Disney acquires rights to Indiana Jones

God help us. Disney's out to milk everything. Pretty soon they'll buy the rights to all the games Square-Enix makes instead of just making the kingdom hearts games for them.

Indy gets transported to Asgard as a joke by Loki where he finds another realm thought to be unreachable by the bifrost in a galaxy far, far away that's ruled by a big headed talking mouse who sends him to hunt down a smuggler named Han Solo.

Harrison Ford will be much more amenable to returning to Han Solo if he can also cut a deal to return to Indy.

Boy now with the Mouse with the Franchise the last fiasco will look like a work of art! :lol

Lucasfilm owned Indy, but Paramount owned the rights to make Indy movies.

Kinda like how Marvel owns Spider-Man, but only Sony can make a Spider-Man movie.

I don't know why this bothers me so much more than Star Wars. I guess Star Wars can continue on with new actors and stories because the universe is so expansive, and I'm honestly looking forward to the new movie.

I would love to see a Shia-less 5th Indiana Jones movie that feels more authentic to the originals, but I refuse to accept anyone other than Ford wearing the fedora.. and I'm pretty sure he wouldn't be too happy about it either.

Honestly, if Bond, Sherlock Holmes, Doctor Who, Poirot and countless others can survive a change of actor then why not Indiana Jones?

Ford's performance is good but he wasn't the sole reason I watched those movies. Maybe not just yet but i'd love to see a reboot with another actor eventually. Give the character of Indiana Jones room to grow into an ongoing legend just like all the aforementioned characters I listed.

I think reboot sounds to be the only feasible option. However, I wonder who would play a good Indy? I also hope even it is a reboot, they choose to do different stories and different legends rather than rehash last crusade or ark. Those are classics and Ford needs to stay as Indy for them.

I have a bad feeling they are just going to have Shia take up the mantle though. I dont hate the actor but he doesn't have the gruff charm and suave Ford brings to the character and his role didn't make him out to be a good lead imo.

I didn't dislike Shia in the last movie, I just didn't think the movie itself was good. I also don't think Ford should do another Indy movie. The Harrison Ford I grew up on was Han and Indy. The Ford of today is a grumbly old pothead. I'd rather not see him in any more Indy movies.

I said elsewhere...why reboot? One of the things Indy was patterned after IIRC was Bond. Why not pull a bond or who and just change actors and move on?

I don't want to see anyone else re-acquire the ark or the grail or the stones or the skull etc. Reboots are for the creative inept.

I think you have to reboot, because I just can't see Indiana Jones in a new time period. I zoned out in IV when the jocks were fighting the greasers. Indiana Jones needs Nazis, rotary engine planes, and absence of modern technology.

No need for a reboot in my opinion just carry on the story but make it good this time around. A properly made and well constructed Indiana Jones movie can survive the loss of Ford, can exist in a more modern time period, and could carry on with Shia as the lead. The last movie sucked because it just plain sucked not because of when it took place or who was in it...it was just a poorly done movie.

:lol I'll go you one better!

I don't want to see any more Indy movies made.

As his father told him about the cup, "Let it go Indy"

I'd rather not see him in any more Indy movies.

Yeah, but good luck telling the MOUSE HOUSE that :lol
Any chance to make more money off a franchise, they will be all over it!

Oh yeah.

I was more or less aiming that at all the fanboys.

Trek, Indiana Jones, Star Wars ALL of these.

Comes a time when you just need to let them go and be thankful for what we got!

Who said anything about moving forward?

The movies were set in 35, 36, 38 and 57. Undoubtedly he did stuff before 35 and in 37 and between 39 and 57. Lots of stuff for them to work with without rebooting. Nazi's existed up to 1945, and you could do Nazi gold/treasure stories up to today quite frankly.
