Differences between ANH and TFA DL44 blasted?

Not sure if it's been discussed before (can't find it easily on my poor phone connection) but are there only subtle differences between the ANH and TFA Han Solo blasters?

The kit pics look very similar. I just have not managed to find a good metal ANH kit yet (everywhere out of stock of one bit or another) but plenty of TFA kits about. It's close enough for me.

Well, to start off, the base guns are two totally different types. One is an actual Mauser C96 and the other is an airsoft version of a Mauser M712. I'd say thats a pretty major difference.

More about the kit to build one. Neither of the "correct" base guns are legal here so it's a replica regardless. The pics of the 2 kits to build look similar. I'm wondering if the main difference is just 40 years of evolution ie to the untrained eye they'd be pretty close?

I think KhalDrogo was trying to say was that because the base guns are different, parts of the kit will fit differently. This mostly affects the front grill as the front of the M712 in the TFA configuration is wider than the C96 in ANH configuration. Other very minor details include the fact that TFA has a disc greeblie on the left side instead of the "mystery disc" in ANH, there are some different screw arrangements in attaching the bull barrel and the scope has some minor detail differences. There is some more stuff. If you want to learn more about the differences, diving into the TFA research thread is a good read and will show the discovery of each TFA detail.

Chris and Khal mentioned the main ones, and yes to the untrained eye the TFA would pass as an ANH. Just like Luke's ESB lightsaber could pass as an ANH.

Almost every part is slightly different. What base gun are you going to use?

Only thing available here is a denix. I want to use metal just because it has the right weight and feel. Hate resin and plastic stuff.
