Die Cast Lighted 1/350th TOS Enterprise (TOMY crowd funded)

THE WARP MODE IS AWESOME!
Oh this is just PHENOMENALLY GOOD! Thanks to everyone who has made this possible. Dream come true. Time to retire my little Bandai refit Enterprise (which is still a lovely little model with all the lighting etc).

I'm thinking all the people that missed out are not making that mistake again, and of course the flippers are going to be pumped up having seen what happened previously. I'm still sitting on my 2nd TOS E.

I knew it would be quick, but dang.

In the video he had a little glimmer in his face when asked about what's next.

Good time to be an untalented model maker craving 1/350 Star Trek ships. (y)

Also, this is maybe a little harsh, but I kinda think Factory Entertainment should be embarrassed to be releasing their ships at such a huge price. Yes, they're nicer, but you're talking about an almost 2000% increase in price compared to the Tomy model, which is in no way justified imo.

For their price they should not need those clear supports. I would be curious if they will have those on the finished product.

If I had the money I would still rather hire one of our people. Cheaper and likely better.

It's crazy that they're going to hit 100% of their goal inside 7 hours, that must surely send a message that people do want these high quality replicas.

Since we're going to coast past it, I really hope that Tomy are going to invest some of that extra money into the model and improve it further.

OH YEAH

I wonder what ship would happen next? The Refit was by far the most requested. After that there was no clear winner.

The D is currently being done by Fanhome.

The fanhome D is an expert build model tho innit? That's a whole nother kettle of tribbles. also it looks like they shut it down 6 mos ago? am I missing something, are they offering a pre-built ship in the near future?

The D is the only logical choice for Tomy that would be guaranteed to sell in the numbers needed to justify its existence.

I'd have to look it up but TOS or Refit era baddie ships (Klingon cruiser would be obvious first choice) are, in scale, perhaps only half the size of the corresponding enterprise, so in theory could be produced much more cheaply, perhaps allowing them to be profitable at half the backer count, so I guess that's a pastability.
