Sorry I was late to this conversation. Buy where is the loose connection? In the saucer or secondary hull? And man sorry to hear you have this problem.

In the Saucer.
First time out of the box, only half the lights illuminated.
I discovered that a thump on the saucer made the lights briefly come on. Then I took the saucer and tapped the front edge firmly into the carpet several times and the lights remained on.
So long as I don't wack it again, I'm hoping they'll stay that way. A battery change in the future may see the problem return. I hate uncertainty, but will just have to live with it. It still looks great just as a static display and with my eyesight, the plugs don't bother me at all either.
So long as I don't bump it ......

Man sorry to hear that. Well at least they seem to stay on after the whack according to the last picture. I wish TOMY would just send you one free of charge. If not to help you out who is a customer...just for PR purposes. It would only help their image especially after what happened with this campaign.
BTW love your display!
While you're in there, you should convert to AC power. Hardly worth opening otherwise.

Having lived with the Tomy Enterprise for some weeks now, I have some issues with the paint job/weathering and the overall colour of the ship. First of all, why are there light dots over the saucer. I’ve looked carefully at videos of the Smithsonian Enterprise and can’t find any sign of them. I also think the weathering overall is too aggressive. This seems to interact with the overall deep grey of the ship to create a rather grubby look in low to natural light. The odd thing is this doesn’t seem to show up in photos and especially lit videos where the ship look lighter and more pleasing. On the other hand I can see that this grubby look captures something of the enterprise shown on the original series. Hmmm, I would still have preferred a lighter grey and more subtle weathering. Anyone else have these qualms? Paul H

I think others have reported similar qualms. I'm not one of them. I live near DC and see the "real thing" in the Smithsonian a couple of times a year at least: the paint job is damn near perfect on the Tomy when you compare it to how it looks in the Smithsonian.
I find that the blue-green gray of the hull looks really obvious in some types of light, and in other types of light it appears light gray.
My only gripe with the paint job is that the weathering streaks on the top of the saucer are a little too heavy, but otherwise it's bang-on to my eyes.
In any case, hopefully others can tell how much I love taking photos of this model. To each their own.

Unrelated: for others that have changed their batteries, do you have to detach/unscrew the saucer from the secondary hull to do so? Or can you turn the whole ship upside down as one piece?
Made some mods to the stand for lighting and sound similar to what I do for all of my vehicles/figures.
Speaker plugs into gold jack.
Momentary switch plays 13 minutes of ship sound effects on the little sound board. The relay board does the same but via WiFi so it is voice controlled by Alexa. Lights tie into the rest of the collection via IR receiver on the wall (not shown). If I ever open up the ship and the relay fits I will use same tech to control the lighting like I’ve done with my HT Delorean and other stuff. Will need an external antenna for WiFi for that though.
Made an amateurish video with my iPhone showing it on my professional refrigerator-top display cabinet lol:

No need to detach. You can even leave it upright once you get the hang of holding the saucer batt cover just right.
It’s really helpful you know that you have access to the Smithsonian Enterprise where you can make valid comparisons. I guess I’m being a bit fussy. Overall I do think the ship is wonderful especially with the lights on

Yeah I'd be into hearing how others are changing the saucer batteries too.
Thanks. I made a montage from listening to literally hours of the Enterprise effects I found on YouTube. I like to make the pieces I collect remind me of what I remember about the show or movie or whatever. For TOS Trek, a lot of it was the ship sounds in the background. I was able to jam a little over 13 minutes on that little 8 MB sound module.
