Die Cast Lighted 1/350th TOS Enterprise (TOMY crowd funded)

I wonder if the people that went off all half ****** and canceled their orders regret it now that they are selling for thousands on the secondary market? Not to mention that the thing looks AMAZING in all the recent photos and videos I’ve seen. I can imagine some of those people wishing they had thought it out a little better. I mean, a 1:350 scale FULLY LIGHTED enterprise with, blinking nav beacons, spinning nacelles with accurate strobing colours, touch sensors, detailed visible bridge and shuttle bay, 3 separate shuttle craft, and the entire Enterprise is made of 20lbs of METAL for just $600 INCLUDING SHIPPING?!? Fuggedaboutit!

I honestly can’t imagine canceling on a deal like that. That’s probably a once in a lifetime chance to own a replica like that at a price that low. And some people had it in the palms of their hands and then canceled the order because of a few little plug hole fillers that you can’t even see from 5 feet away? They thought they were teaching TOMY a lesson but just punished themselves out of $600-$1000 dollars of profit on the secondary market if they really didn’t like it once it arrived at their house. Just brutal.
I think we were all pretty pissed off. But after seeing one after the other cancel....I began to come to my senses (with the help of picture and videos)....it also kinda made me want to keep mine. I didn't want to be one of those who cancelled out of anger....

Here's another cool all metal Enterprise. I think before the Tomy this was the largest Diecast Enteprise ever made. So it took 32 years to get another larger scale all diecast Enteprise....

Very cool for what it is. It is a nice representation of the ship. Not much paint details but a cool bridge feature as well as shuttle. But I don't think this was supposed to be about 100% Accuracy. This was $400 back in the day I believe....

Wow 400???? Man so this TOMY is a steal!!! A goddamn STEAL!

That's a really cool model for sure. Seeing it though makes me realize even more how truly amazing the die-cast replica from Tomy is and what they were able to achieve.

Well I guess that Enterprise never really appreciated in value! :)

Also I made a mistake it was $295 plus shipping and tax etc. Probably around $320. Still a lot for back in 1992

Now we know where Playmobil got their idea. I have to say though, it does have a decent stand, and it comes with a shuttle!

Anyone get the feeling Trevor's having a little too much fun with his toys while we wait on ours? Lol.
Yeah Trevor is definitely in love with his enterprise!!! He's done a great service though appeasing our worries and he's done better image repair than TOMY ever did! : )

Yeah..I remember seeing it in the mall back in 1992. Franklin Mint had physical stores back then. I was in college and would eat lunch at the mall and look at pretty girls...lol. I stopped by the store a couple times to look at this. I loved the exterior detail and bridge even though it wasn't to scale. I could not afford it back than but seriously considered getting it on a credit card....I may just have to pick up a used one. Be neat to have it next to the Tomy. Franklin Mint also did a pewter version. Much smaller but the pewter was so soft the necelles warped with age....over $200 after tax and ship.

Yeah, if I was watching girls and saw the Enterprise in a window, I'd probably be distracted too. I understand.

I have it it and was made by Franklin Mint. They also made the same ship into a desk lamp. I have that one as well. They also made a D model with a lift off bridge

Yeah, I was disappointed, because they promised more, but I also recognized that if I am ever to own anything like this in this scale, $600 was a steal, even with the problems. If I already had a MR or something ( the MR was outside my willingness to pay when it came out., and still is.) maybe I would cancel, but why do that when you will be able to unload it for at least what you paid for it to someone like me who missed the initial offering? I am interested in seeing a refit as well, but I would expect a refit to be more in the $800+ range and I can't see that ever getting past the wife, even if I somehow convinced myself that it was a good idea ( Buy two, sell the other, get a free one..) She almost didn't let me get this, and she vetos buying a second for resale. Yeah, yeah, I am hen pecked - but you know, happy, wife, happy life. A $600 luxury item is not a hill I am willing to die upon.

My Dinky toy is about the same size.. But even less accurate. Of course, in 1970 it cost $10 - they run from $8 to $150 now on ebay depending on the condition, how may torpedos are left and if there is a box.

I understand the dilemma though my girlfriend encourages my collecting as long as it’s within reason…so no Factory Entertainment 15 grand enterprise. : )

But seriously family is more important. Keeping things calm and peaceful and even keel in a family is crucial to a happier life.

But you at least got to get the this 1/350 enterprise! That’s a plus!
