Die Cast Lighted 1/350th TOS Enterprise (TOMY crowd funded)

I just received this email. I didn’t have an issue with my Cc being charged. I also received a separate email with a receipt for my contribution.

TOMY Prestige Select Campaign Currently Being Finalized

Hello
Please note that campaign called 32 Inch Star Trek Enterprise – Die Cast Metal Replica is currently being processed and finalized. Please note that if you received a failed contribution email notice and wanted to re-try your credit card, you will not be able to do this at this time.

Thank you.

Same here, receipt for one order and two emails like the above. My CC still shows both orders or at least two identical amounts, pending. I don’t think I have ever had this much confusion trying to get people to take my money. LOL

I also got my receipt. Glad everyone on this thread seems to be getting their receipts! :)

It's official now. The build begins and hopefully we will get some wonderful updates along the way! It's gonna be a long wait but I do feel this replica will be something special matching the quality of the MRE...and maybe if we are lucky surpassing the MRE in quality! :)

I realize the above is just a prototype/promo shot. And maybe I'm not the most hardcore trekkie, but is the saucer supposed to droop like that?

I would hate to see the designers at Tomy so fixated with making the saucer removable, that don't catch some more obvious blunder in time. Whether it's something like the above, or something else.

Guess I'm just fixated on the "too good to be true" aspect of this project.

The saucer doesn’t droop. If anything that’s just a result of the angle that picture was taken from. Go to their site and look at all the pictures of the prototype.
Well, all those are still just prototypes too, are they not?

I realize it's premature to be calling anything out. It's just that, this being their first stab at these, there are bound to be some things they wish they'd caught earlier, or wish they'd done differently (apart from the marketing and payment processing) after they are in our hands.

And If this replica turns out as good as they say it will, the value will exceed that of the Master Replicas easily.
I don't know. The MR started at double the price of this one. And far less made as far as I know. Anyone have the actual numbers?
Wow thanks for sharing!!!!

Yep. They can ask that till the cows come home !:D
What is an actual going price for the MR anyway? Double? Triple the original cost? More? Hard to say when people put up these pie in the sky pricing.
There’s a MR Enterprise on EBay now for $7,500 + $255.00 shipping. Not that he’ll ever get that.

I could never justify that price to myself. 8 grand is just a tad bit crazy for the MRE.

Wonder if it will sell. There was another on sale for 12 grand. If someone pays that they definitely have monies to burn.

A lot of people are buying multiples. I think there will be quite a few for secondary sale when this delivers.

I think we are up to 2803 Enterprises ordered so far.
Didn't it drop to under 2500 the other day? Not sure if it's possible to still see numbers.

Have the team mentioned how transparent orange will be the bussard dome covers? Since the tooling sample appears overly purple in the video and the (assuming that's a closer example of how the finished model should look?) other is a very opaque orange. I looked up an old MR review & someone's pro build and the alternating colors are fairly prominent. I would hope if they're going to the trouble of adding motor action they'll make it noticeable. I want this thing to light up like Christmas as much as possible while maintaining as much screen accuracy as needed. Otherwise might as well just go buy a kit.

If you trust he's not just tooting his own horn, the creator seems to have quite a resume (25 years designing if I heard right) and is on record saying he wants to do this right not only by the fans but also for himself as he's a collector too. He seems very confident Tomy will have no problems pulling it off, and cited a lot of past successes with other diecast designs.

They did mention the prototype doesn’t have the final dome on the nacelles. It’s in one of their video updates.

I don't recall if it was posted here, but - about a week or so before the end of the crowdfunding campaign - someone on youtube did an hour long interview with one of the creators. He talked a lot about the details regarding the making of their Enterprise, as well as plans for the future:

I personally think they'll get it right. So much so I ordered an extra to resell. One thing I do really wish they had was a non-battery powered option to so could leave the switches on and simply turn on/off with voice via a wifi power plug.

I'm also going to go on record that if these were more in the 12-13" range and usb powered (again for easy voice on/off) with a lower price for the smaller size, there's a ton of people would fill detolf's full. Imagine a row of detolf's coming alive with lit ships from not just Star Trek but other major shows/movies as well. They would be printing money.

This was another concern I had, which I haven't heard anyone from Tomy address (even in that hour+ video chat).
I don't know if James here is referring to the # of lights, or their intensity.

For me, I would hope that the people at Tomy understand there is a difference between toy light intensity and scale replica intensity of the lighting.
I'm expecting them to default to toy level, high brightness. But if there is time, hopefully some people can clue them into the desirability of lower intensity brightness to scale- and maybe they would be able to address that capability with their design of the wiring, and controls, for this.

Otherwise I expect them to light this for maximum effect in fully lighted rooms.

Also, in a similar vein, being able to fairly easily access/replace those lights and wire if need be, would be much appreciated.
