Die Cast Lighted 1/350th TOS Enterprise (TOMY crowd funded)

People may still create displays, alternative stands and such for the TOS. Or be excited because they finally get one after missing the initial release, so no reason to lock this thread!

This thread really represents the highs and struggles of getting an item that is incredibly important to a lot of the community and our beloved collections.

A lot of anger also.....I was a bit disappointed in myself for some of the mean stuff I said that I went back and deleted just about all of them...lol

Maybe we could use discipline and only post TOS Enterprise comments here and use the “Collectible” thread for the TMP Enterprise comments.
 
I have been hoping to see more custom bases and posts for TOS Enterprise display as I am not a fan of the big plastic Starfleet Symbol.

Still hoping for a mirror base on the Refit.

Or some type of black flat display base so as acrylic cover can be added. And a mirror:p
 
Did anyone ever end up selling alternative stands for the TOS 1701 or just personal one-offs?

It would be easier to direct traffic that way if the other thread had a reasonable, descriptive title and not just like... a web link as a title. I didn't even know another thread existed until you mentioned it because it's in a totally different section with an unclear title.
 
This thread! I am old enough to remember epic fig…er, discussions about what was Studio Scale modeling. This thread has always been in the wrong place. It’s a model sure, but nothing to do with the act of modeling. Were one to re-paint or modify then perhaps it would belong in the General MODELING discussion, but I always thought this should be in the collectables. That said who am I to poop a party?!

That’s ok! We all do crazy stuff and regret it! Let’s enjoy the ride for this one! It’s gonna be a great day when this enterprise lands on our doorstep!
 
It’s very funny reading a lot of comments on the TOMY Insider page and the TOMY Owners club of people regretting not purchasing the TOS or totally missing out! So they are going all in on the Refit! Hopefully that will totally drive more interest and further get the word out.

Well I'm figuring a bit later this time because they won't start taking orders till mid August and this time the ship has a more intricate paint job and lightning....AND it will undoubtedly have way more orders then the TOS. The TOS had just under 3k. I bet this one has no less then 5k. Just a guess. January 2026 would be at the very latest and only because they could run into issues. Always plan for the worst with these types of orders. But I'm sure it will be the end of 2025..

I like the simplicity of the base actually. Even cooler that it has spotlights. A mirror base might be a bit much. Or it could look great. I don't know lol

I'm sure someone on Etsy will make a mirror base for it eventually so don't fret.
 
Man the TOMY + Insiders club is booming with write ups! Looks like TOMY has got a MAJOR HIT ON THEIR HANDS! This campaign looks like it will BLOW THE DOORS OFF THE TOS CAMPAIGN!

Which does not surprise me since the Refit seems like the most beloved design in the ST Universe. Plus there are a ton of people who missed out on the TOS and combine that with the people who regretted not signing up or who got refunds and we got a ton of enthusiasm for this project!!!

We could be looking at record numbers here!
 
What do you guys think of the paint app? Where would you like to see improvement/changes?
