I'm still a bit leery about the saucer creating stress on the connector/neck. I get that he was intimately involved in the project, but how do we really know long-term effects without the saucer support? Still a bit of an unknown...

I'm hoping someone makes a clear dome support available without the clunky base or something even better. Not perfect, but it would allow for better viewing of both sides of the model.
Understood. I feel the same way. The same could probably be said about the nacelles. Lighter weight but thinner support and multiple axes to torque - and there is at least some history of that with the lightweight plastic models.

I keep an eye on the neck seams but have no intention of ever using the primary hull stand. The loss in cool factor (for me) is not worth it even if the stand were less obstructive. To quote that great band of 1982, “Only time will tell …”

I’m planning on having a 3D printed thin post on that goes into the same hole. Then I’ll remove the bigger support. I’ll let y’all know when it’s done.

Ummm if it turns out well let us know! If you can supply us with some...with pay of course...that would be awesome!

This must be record thread for a not model in the general modeling forum lol. There’s very few Star Trek builds relative here but this has been the top thread for months!

Long term is unknown for sure, but man it's freekin' metal. I would be shocked if anything ever droops in our lifetimes.

This MR has suffered the dreaded non spinning motor…in one nacelle…as others have reported amongst other problems and is still up for 7 grand. The rest of the electronics and ship itself seems to be fine. It looks great!

I wonder if our TOMY’s will be worth as much and sought after in the years to come.

Thought you guys might enjoy this guy's video of an alternate base for our Enterprise.
Was watching this last night. Not sure what to make of it. It seems strong enough but it has the same wobble as the original stand. Not sure I trust what he's done but I like the attempt. I think if the poles were shorter it might be more stable. Plus I feel the steel rings will eventually rub the paint though he did put plastic heat shrinks on the struts that are inserted into the Enterprise.

I just ordered these $10 clear doll rods. I thought this may be the most un-obtrusive way of handling the saucer stand (yes, I still want a saucer stand). I may try two as well for a bit more stability. Be sure to swipe through the photos on the link.

Thanks I might attempt that myself. I bought some supporting rods myself that worked but I didn't feel they were to secure. I'm still working out where to place my Enterprise so I have the saucer stand on now. Once that is worked out I'm gonna try your suggestion and retry mine and see which works best. Hopefully other aftermarket alternatives will come out in the future.

Hat tip to MDLAV8R for the lights recommendation -- they're easy to place and use, and the dimmer is excellent. I have the lights on a dusk/timer smart plug; here's wishing for someone to figure out some unobtrusive way to do something similar with the E's lights themselves!
