Die Cast Lighted 1/350th TOS Enterprise (TOMY crowd funded)

At least the price didn't change. To be honest though, I would have paid more for it if they had made it so it could have been plugged in instead of battery powered. I might just put it in a case, light the case with led strip lighting to light the exterior of the ship, take out the batteries, and just leave the lights off.

cancelling is only hurting yourselves TBH. this will be going for 2K once the feeding frenzy dies down on ebay. (right now it's at 1500). all those cancelled orders are a huge unintended gift to TOMY, thye can dole them out slowly on ebay (if they want) for the next couple years at triple the price point.

considering this costs, after inflation adjust, one third of the MR, it's fair to say ur still getting a helluva bang for your buck, especially if you just turn around and sell it for twice what you paid (bare minimum).

no point in making these guys miserable (tomy staff). if y'all make life hell for them and go after them like a crazed boomer beyonce beehive i think that just about dashes our hopes for a 1701-a refit, however faint that candle flickers.

(just joshin fellas, i know most'a'yooz are gen X [do millenials even GAF about TOS? it's literally sooooo problematic])
Supposedly returns are being sold thru TOMY's Outlet Store at the original price but shipping would be extra. No online orders, only called in orders !

Jebus I hate how they made the shuttle with a gap as well with a split . All the paint globs on the imperfections and a rear seam split to boot. Further, the shuttles look like a cottage cheese paint job. Why in the hell did they not make the shuttles as one piece?

I actually like that…have a larger shuttle model and have that as a phaser turret track.

There you go again with your facts!

What a journey this has been this past month. Opened mine today. Zero paint issues. Model looks great. I’m happy I didn’t cancel.

Who says TOMY is selling at a discount at the outlet store? Their website cleary has them listed at $599. Doesn't appear to be a discount to me. TOMY will make their money back, though they may not choose to make anymore Star Trek ships.
can you link me? i found a listing but it says "out of stock".

Anyone else having a problem installing the deflector dish end cap on the secondary hull? When I put mine in place, I cannot rotate it far enough for the raised areas on the rim to match up with the secondary hull forward extensions at 3, 6, and 9 o'clock. It stops about 1/4" from rotating fully clockwise. I'm not sure what it is hanging up on and don't want to force it.

Thanks

I had to position the bottom one first and then the top. Took a little bit but got it.

My friend is designing a bridge console piece and a plaque that goes where the large saucer arm plugs into the stand to replace the old one. Going to use a single post and cup for the saucer. I just ordered a soundboard and speaker to make some sound clips and ambient noise. Going to place it in the Console/plaque. I hope someone designs something more permanent than the 3D piece we're making.

I absolutely love this and $600 shipped is insane for this piece. When you look at the packaging, shipping, and tax included, this Enterprise is a steal. It was fun and easy to put together, and honestly, the saucer support doesn't look that bad. I bet there will be options later, but at least it's got the support for the neck.

I checked with TOMY engineers that helped design the original model and they said that displaying the Enterprise without the separate saucer display stand support will not damage the model. The two pins on the secondary hull stand are strong enough to support everything by themselves. Though a little wobbly, they have the model balanced just right so that it won’t tip forward without the saucer support. TOMY told me that the stand is made of ABS which I understand is pretty tough.

I currently have it displayed with a single stand, but I would appreciate it if you or someone else could provide a screenshot or link to the original comments by Tony. I'm taking a leap of faith based on what others are reposting here!

Anyway, here are some more beauty shots. I'm having a ton of fun with this thing.

For anyone questioning saucer separation I noticed TOMY seems to have followed the Franz Joseph blueprints for the separation point. That made me more comfortable with the design.View attachment 1753475
Indeed. Star Trek Continues (fan series but with significant unofficial support from trek crew) had also previously referenced the same Franz Joseph manual for their model with very similar results, shown below.
Despite only being cited in episode dialogue and reference material and never occurring on-screen during TOS, this depiction of the separation point has become the de facto solution for the canonical feature.

The TMP refit actually does mark that same separation point on-screen (obviously a little different because the entire ship is different). Plans to feature a saucer separation sequence were ultimately called off, but the markings on the hull for it remain, and there is concept art for the cut sequence.

So considering all of this, I don't think TOMY's design regarding the separation point is at all in question. It's as close to canon as we're gonna get. The question simply is whether each individual collector is interested in the inclusion of the feature, or whether they'd prefer to have avoided the extra seam.

It certainly makes this model more unique in the history of TOS replicas.

sold out? Or not selling yet? Or in store only?

In store only....not sold out yet but I bet a few people in Iowa are already inquiring about it...lol...

Just got mine from UPS. Man this thing is awesome. Unfortunately I’m gonna have to make a trip to Lowe’s for a smaller screw driver to put the batteries in. Now that I have this I don’t even want a MR, even if it is slightly better.
