So not exactly flush plugs then eh? Are the shuttles die-cast or plastic?
They are so tiny though I don't see why they are two pieces.
Looking back on their video from April and images from last year they were two piece and no one noticed ...lol ...it's ok though....they will be in the hangar bay. There is a slight ridge at the top of the shuttles, along with the Nacells at the bottom. It could be they felt it would be too difficult to remove form the molds without breaking stuff. But I agree, I expected one tiny solid piece
16x33X12 is rouggly the internal space required. For a case you would want some room around it..Anyone got fully assembled dimensions for this yet? WxLxH with stand and base. Haven't assembled yet. Trying to figure dimensions for a case. Travis...anyone?
Thnk you. Now to figure out a case for this thing.16x33X12 is rouggly the internal space required. For a case you would want some room around it..
Are we sure that TOMY is still going to make further Star Trek models as stated?THE FOLLOWING POST AND PICTURE IS NOT MINE. POSTED ON FB !
In 2022, Iowa based Tomy which acquired Ertl, a long-time metal-model maker of metal toys that included John Deere farm tractor replicas, came onto the scene with a license to create a series of high-end large scale metal models that would launch their Prestige Select line of Star Trek collectibles. The first product of this new venture was a 1:350-scale classic original series Enterprise.
Myself along with others formed a group of paid consultants to help create this first model. This fulfilled a life-long dream for me of not just owning an accurate screen replica of the Enterprise but with the added bonus of helping build it. Though my role was relatively minor compared to others, I still played a part and it was fun.
The end result of our efforts is now shipping. Some have already received their orders. Now that I have received my own copy of the model, I am impressed with what Tomy has done. There are issues which have and will be pointed out by others. Knowing how much attention that Tomy did take to our suggestions, I remain pleased with the results. There were so many levels of management and other factors that remained outside of our control. Tomy was not obligated or required to take any of our suggestions but they did listen and some things were changed as a result.
In the end, the Tomy model is the best and most accurate functioning (i.e. lights up with motorized engine fans) for the price point given. I’m still amazed that all of this (yes seams and plug holes included) was made available to buyers for under $600 which includes shipping for the 46-pound model! Yes, there will be those out there that say that they can do better with the Polar Lights model either the 1:350 kit or the limited-edition preassembled version (if you can still find one). Some also have done very well 3D printing their own. But if you are among the untalented model makers like me that could not possibly come close to producing a finished kit that resembles anything like what the 11-foot Smithsonian model looks like, then the Tomy model remains a good choice.
Tomy is working on other models that will be part of their new Star Trek Prestige Select line. They have learned from their mistakes and despite what you may have heard, they do listen to their customers.
I'm just posting what was posted on FB. No knowledge at my end.Are we sure that TOMY is still going to make further Star Trek models as stated?

I bet the higher-ups consider this project a success. Almost 3,000 units sold, maybe 200 cancellations that will be resold, and actually not that much backlash. A couple of dozen (at the most) dissatisfied here on the RPF, and a smattering around other sites and FB. Much of those possible the same members from here.I bet we don't see one on this level again. At least not Diecast. If Tomy higher ups were involved with this one and prevented a few things from happening, there is no way they are gonna do more Star Trek 1/350 in diecast, after the customer backlash. I expect that the same higher ups will request plastic and the price point significantly higher....WITHOUT free shipping....![]()
