Hey Gang! Does anyone have any hard to find images or resources that would help someone..... say...... build one?......not studio scale......but......bigger.
Ive combed google images and found a few pics but Im wondering if anyone has some really good stuff they'd be willing to share. PM or post and we'll get in touch. Thanks so much for any help!!!

Bumpity bump, Anyone know anything about this movie setpiece? Or any construction pics, dimensions etc? Id really appreciate the help.
Thanks Gang,
Mike

Thanks Invicta,
I just placed the order for one. Guess if Im gonna spend the money for a 1:1, 30.00 for the 1/48 scale is a good investment. Thanks. If anyone has any other pics of this prop... Id love to hear from you!
Mike

You know, if your planning on using this for home defense...it did'nt work out to well for the Rebels:sleep

The shape of the 1/48 is not really correct, it´s to wide - you better check it on your own than using the measurement from the kit.

Use the available pics and do your own math - it´s not difficult.

hmmm.... grumble grumble. If the 1/48 model is not the right shape then I could eyeball it and work it out on graph paper, but I have nothing to scale the thing to. The Norwegians hanging out the door to the turret in the thumbnail (top post) make me think the the doorway is something like 5'6"-5'10" tall. I have nothing good to scale it all to. Graph paper here I come. Thanks for your input guys. OH and moo cricket- I agree on the limited usefullness of this turret.... thats why I have a few slushy cold cans
of coke handy. Just shake em up and throw them in the belly of the nearest AT-AT. *boom* The crew will be covered in sticky coke and the walker will just fall down!

Whilst it's not ideal and you might find something else better in another shot I'd scale everything off the size of the blaster. The measurements of the A280 blaster must be known, if not you can work it out off the size of the StG44. It may not be perfect due to perspective in the above shot but it's better than just eyeballing it.

Too bad the blaster rifle isnt leaning up against the turret body! I can use the rifle as another reference I guess. Ive been looking at the Saladin armored vehicle cannon that was supposed to be used as a base for reference on the cannon on this prop. Cant rally find a saladin gun that loos like this one though. Every little bit helps. Id really rather cut plywood but theres more figuring to do. Thanks for the input!

Are you trying to replicate the studio model or the set piece?

There are shots of the studio model in Chronicles.

PHA, Im going to do the set-peice. Ive found out that the 76mm gun that was used for the prop was 7' total from breach to muzzle..... the question now is how much was showing out of the turret. I have found an old pic of a saladin vehicle with a similar barrel shroud.

Hey Gang,
I decided to scale this thing from what i think (and hope) is 3" flexible tubing. It does seem to work out and make sense when I use the hose
at 3" for scaling. This is what Ive come up with in the first go. It looks ok
on graph paper... the turret dims still need work. The 1/48 model should be here in the next day or so. Even if its not perfect it might help somewhere.

wonderful project. This is one of the iconic Empire items that has never been given it's due justice in the star wars collectors realm. I could also in vision it as a project that was cut in half and wall mounted as an entry into a collectors room . The turret would have to be turned , but you understand the idea.

I always thought that would make a cool playhouse in the backyard. Add a couple floors inside and trick it out. Kids would love it.

As a kid I actually planned to build a turret as a play house. Hey, a kid´s dream, but this kid here actually drew up plans for the project :lol They are lost, or at least they probably are in the same place that I "stored" the plans I drew up for a set of "Condorman" wings as a 10 year old...

I've got the /48 scale kit now. Its cute, and every bit of info helps a bit. Im not too sure of the scaling of the turret. I think its missing 6-8 scale inches of depth but Im still workin on it. Itll be a nice little model when all is said and done though. Ive got most of the plans roughed out now and a jig planned out for cutting the many circular braces with a router on a trammel (arm). The 1/2 turret idea is really great too.... Ill definitely keep the plans and scetches for this sucker.
PS Man from Naboo....... I loved condorman as a kid too: the boat chase scene with the lazer gun especially!
