I'm hoping this is close enough. I found some similar on ebay for 8.95 but they look like they had the wrong finish to me. I also found others that looked like the right finish but the border around the plastic view window was too thick.

Anyway, I don't know if this is the right thing or not because there are no pictures of the back. But it looks close enough to me and was only $12.00

It's the same on both sides, which may or may not be screen accurate but since we never see the other side of it, it very well could be that it's a laminate holder on both sides.

BTW, they changed holders somewhere during Season 4 (or between Seasons 3 and 4). The more recent ones are squared off on the top and bottom (i.e., no rounded corners) and there's more space beween the sides of the I.D. and the inner edges of the window, so either version would be correct.

I wonder if the Greetings from Miami postcard from season 2 was made by the prop team or if it is an actual postcard you can find in Miami

For those wondering about the back of Dexter's I.D. holder, we do get a brief glimpse of it in the first episode of Season 4, Living the Dream, as Dex hands it to an officer. It appears to have a slot on the back for a badge, not another card. I don't know if any companies offer them in that configuration, or if it was custom made by the props department. Just a heads up.

The badge/ID holder I got through evilBay is the same way. I can't say with absolute certainty, but I believe it's pretty common for them to be made so they can hold both an ID and a badge.

BTW, somewhere during season 3 or 4 (sorry, I've forgotten) the shape of Dexter's ID holder changed. In the first few seasons the corners on the top and bottom were somewhat rounded (like in Trooper_trent's photos in post #123) and later changed to being squared off. Dexter's ID is the same as far as I can tell, so either style holder would be correct.

Do you have a link to a squared off ID holder? I recently acquired an "extra" Dexter ID from Season 4, but it don't fit in the rounded off ID holder.

Just display it in my Detolf. It would make a nice Season 2 prop along with WarMachine's Postcard.

I think the problem is I do need the squared ID holder. I managed to get an extra Dexter ID from season 4. I have the laminate, just need the squared ID holder. I'll post up pics of my ID. It has text on the back with a stripe to scan and a "if found return to".
