dexter watch

@Pinder91

Okay, I intended to be nice, but here is the fond of my thought.

1. I saw this thread, I spotted this watch, I shared.
Sorry that it will cost you an arm, but since there is the word "community" in the RPF's credo, I choose to serve the interest of the community, and not the selfish interest of a minority.

2. If you knew the brand, and wanted to collaborate with DarkPassenger in private, that's ok, it's privacy... But since you are boasting of knowing those information in public... Then, you publicly admitting that you choose to not collaborate, just to serve your own purposes...
That is regrettable and is reprehensible.

So this was you not being nice? :lol

I applaud your excitment and attitude. Don't confuse me with someone hoarding a commodity and boasting about how I will not share in a fair manner. Yes, I knew information, and yes, I was not sharing 1) because my source asked me not to and 2) I hadn't yet found my own watch.

None of those who knew the watch brand were scouring the earth to acquire every last watch in existence with plans to resell at an astronomically inflated price. We were trying to make sure that didn't happen.

But you found the info and you posted it. Kudos!

I said that I was nice before, I didn't say I will become harsh or speaking the sort of language that you expecting or used to speak when you want to play the big boy.
So, I will not play in your school yard's game.

That being said, there was no reason to act the way you did.
You know it, you keep it for yourself or you share it ! That's all...
Whatever the reason for you to keep silence, you don't write ....

"That's just one of the many reasons I will NOT be sharing the watch brand."

... Or you will get the community to expect that you share this information with all of us !

But I think you felt a huge need to become important ... To be under the spotlights once...
That's comprehensible and I hope you enjoyed it !

50 4 tha watch I bought is 90% like it. But it has a date but no biggie.as for this fight the watch is out and about so there's no point in bickering.as Rodney king once said" can't we all just get along"!

Hey ! Don't worry Tyler !
No one is fighting here. Pinder gave is opinion and reason, I gave mine.
That's all !

And congrats for the watch !

another one of these, eh? Take that with a grain of salt, I've only been lurking this thread.

I would hate to see another Gino-like rivalry over a hobby.

I'm just curious as to how much you think the price will increase now that the info is public, DarkPassenger? It is an expensive item to begin with, I'm not sure the demand will really rise too high, unless some lucky few profiteers located it before, bought up a large stock and will sell mostly to us die hard hobbyists. That's just my poorly formed opinion though.

because I was talking to another member (who is now banned), a month before you even posted in this thread.

I congratulated you for finding the watch on your own. I'm not trying to start another e-match over Dexter props... been there done that.

Glad to hear we can be adults about it though. :)
(No, I was not being sarcastic)

I'm not sure. The one yesterday went for $402.00 with only about 15-20 people actually knowing what it was. Once everyone finds out, on watch collecting forums, prop forums, or Dexter fan sites, who knows how high it will go? Maybe there are only 2 crazed fans outbidding each other and once they get their own, the price will drop (I doubt it).

There was a boardie who claimed to have flown the world looking for the Ice Truck Killer doll. He bought them all up at low prices, and then started to sell them at around $350 (I think). Hope that doesn't happen here for everyone's sake. That was the only thing I was trying to avoid.

I'm not too familiar with watch collectors, but is this already a sought after piece?

That is interesting about the Ice Truck Killer doll. I understand your concern, and as Thibault has shown, individual research could have yielded the right watch from research. The bickering on the boards here can sometimes just turn nasty and make a fun hobby into a chore.

Your knife set is fantastic btw.

You quoted Pinder way out of context. John MacLane was being a ****** the way he went about finding out what the watch was. I think he is TylerDurden now, but he is being a lot different and that's fine.

You're calling me reprehensible for not making the info public? Read this http://www.therpf.com/f24/dexter-costume-72909/index9.html post #222, posted June 6th 2011 before coming in this thread talking about how I should be ashamed for keeping secrets.

The only reason I turned people away this week was because of the 2 on eBay. I wanted to give older members who have been looking a fair chance to get them before the price got hiked up too high. I even said in numerous threads, if people waited, I would get back to them. Here in this thread, post #55, I said that very thing.

Do research before making these claims about how reprehensible I am and my need to be important. I have shared EVERYTHING I found (Vera's Urn, 75% of the Kill Tools, The Messermeister Bag, the G-Star pants, Trinity's Hammer) publicly except the watch. Deal with it.

I am not too sure. I found the one I own on eBay for a $200 Buy It Now. This was when I found out who it was from someone who works in wardrobe on Dexter. No one else but myself knew at the time (I think Pinder did too?). It was sold by Ashland Investments and was expensive for a vintage watch that no one knew what it was (being on Dexter).

Thanks a lot! Almost done with the Kill Tools, just waiting on Drew's Kill Knife. Can't wait!!!!

@DP
I don't know how I can explain it better... And how you should have reading me !!!

I told you that it was not a problem for me to proceed this way !!!!!!!

"I understaind that you didn't say anything when you discovered it, the time to get one... I will not lie, I would have done the same thing...
"If you knew the brand, and wanted to collaborate with DarkPassenger in private, that's ok, it's privacy... "

But telling that you have the information and keeping it secret is not really polite or participating in the spirit of this forum... :unsure

For the rest :

Guys,

The watch has already been identified. It is being kept off of the boards for now. My reasons for keeping it off the public message board has to do with price jacking and the community. My watch was $200 before I even told a soul what one it is. I can't imagine the bidding war or Buy it Now if the watch was public info. I also don't think it's fair to tell someone who has just joined over a member who has been trying to ID it for years.

I keep getting tons on PMs asking me what the watch is, and I have already said, I will tell you all but you need to wait a little while. Have patience!!!! I will not be answering any PMs about the watch. As of right now I have 9 PMs in my box, all about the watch.

To help you all save your money, it is NOT a Timex or IWC brand watch.

Please have patience and soon you will all know.

Thanks

:rolleyes

Yeah, I didn't read your post in the other thread... (Which is in contradiction with the sentences I underlined in this thread BTW)... And I am sorry!
But the 71,473 other threads, the 1,254,215 other posts I still have to read and the 27,740 members I want to meet make me kind of busy ... ;)
I was a fool to only read this one !

You tell me it's not a problem, then say this:

But telling that you have the information and keeping it secret is not really polite or participating in the spirit of this forum... :unsure

I said I would share, so stop telling me what's polite and what isn't.

You're miss-quoting me. You're bolding only partial sentences to make yourself look like you had a point. YAWN. Do you comprehend anything I say, or do you just babble on about how I hid it from the community? Read my posts first before responding with more idiocy.

I have mixed feelings on this one. On one hand, it's good to know the watch make and model. And on the other hand, well, the cat is out of the bag.

You guys seem to think your just going to run out and purchase one. Ebay may turn up a couple once in a blue moon but finding this watch in any quantity is pure fantasy. I'm looking for several different watches for members here and most are pretty common in my field but I've yet to find any or at least any in decent intact condition. So far my search has turned up 2 Pulp Fiction "ass watches". I recently emptied a whole house full of junk watches from a deceased collector that filled up a whole van and didn't find any watches on my list. So I wouldn't fret too much about someone hording these watches......you'll be lucky enough to even find any.

I totally agree Tymer. It's amazing there was 2 on eBay at the same time. Even a simple google search turns up no results. The only way I IDed the watch was by one image from WorthPoint. Even after knowing it took a few weeks for it to turn up for me.

That's another reason I think the price will skyrocket, because of the rarity.
