Dexter Season 7 and 8

While one may choose not to watch the next week's preview, I think it's unrealistic to expect that nobody discuss what's been shown to the public. We don't add spoiler tags to posts talking about movie trailers, for example.

Curious who is dead in dexters arms
In the next episode. Trailer for the next one aroun the .34 sec mark shows someone in a white shirt, like the one Vogel
Was wearing. Could she be the one Oliver
Is sawing up?
Also hearing rumors Dex will die out on his boat in the hurricane where he ends up at the bottom
Of the ocean with the rest of his victims thus "remember the monsters"
**** looks like its going to hit the fan though
Doesnt matter its going to end one way or another, do all bad things come to an end?

I just hope they don't go for one of those transparent endings that have to make a philosophical point. In this case, "live by the sword, die by the sword."

Since Dexter has deceived everyone in his life, especially those who cared for him most; it would be very easy to simply have the person he now trusts most to ultimately deceive and kill, him. Right now, that's Hannah.

Anyone else feeling a bit like it's losing the thunder? I like the season alright so far, but it's nowhere near the intensity of building end as Breaking Bad is turning out to be. There's only 3 more episodes left! I just don't feel like we're picking up speed and I feel a bit underwhelmed.

No season after the trinity killer season with Lithgow has ever been as good.

Season 4 was intense!! Every episode had me riveted and the finale blew me away. I was actually sad and upset about it for a long time..

Right there with you - the premise of this whole show, a serial killer within a police department, is such a great set up - I *always* thought the final season was going to be about those around him closing in - some sort of chase - and Dexter finally getting exposed - instead we're being treated to the soap opera theatrics you usually see on a network show. So disappointed.

I don't watch Breaking Bad so I can't make any direct comparisons, but, yeah, this final season seems to be running out of steam. That said, the producers and writers have two things working against them right now.

First, Lithgow's performance in season 4, and his interaction with Michael C. Hall, was lightning in a bottle, and I think most fans of the series consider that to be the best season. For a brief period of time I thought they were going to duplicate that to some degree with Ray Stevenson (as Isaak Sirko) in season 7 because his interaction with Hall was equally intriguing and full of energy, and it looked like Isaak and Dexter were moving towards what could have been a very interesting showdown. Instead, they killed off Isaak and that was that; a wasted opportunity in my opinion.

Second, it would be impossible for them to please every single Dexter fan regardless of how they end the series. Some fans think he should die, some think he should live on as he is, some think he should somehow be rid of the Dark Passenger and live a happy life, and so on. One way or another, someone's going to be dissatisfied.

I don't care what both shows do as long as they take a que from Lucas and make things faster and more intense!

With what just happened to Vogel, her crazy son on the loose, and the Federal Marshal on the verge of finding Hannah with Dexter together ... well, things are not looking good for a happy ending for Dexter.

It's making me sad.

I've noticed over the last 2 seasons that they really seem to making Dexter not as likable as he once was. He is making a lot of mistakes and doing things he would never have done before. This makes me think they are leading us up to not caring about what happens to him in the end, but of course they could just be playing us.

It really surprised me when Vogel was killed, until this episode, I really thought she might be in on it with her son.

Things will probably really start picking up with Dexter with 2 episodes left. Unfortunately this whole season has been very disappointing and molasses-slow moving story line. I have been bored the last few shows wondering what has happened to this series. I think i'm just ready for it to be done so I can cancel my Showtime and save $12.99/month.

I could be a minority on the matter, but these past 4-6 episodes have been boring.
Season 8 started off so darn well - it had us really buckled in for a great ride.
But jeez, what a slow moving season.
With only two episodes left, they certainly have a lot to accomplish.
Almost seems like we'd been better off to just have a three hour movie finale instead of twelve drawn out episodes. :-/

Now, Ray Donovan...there's a show to watch. Helping fill the void left in us after The Sopranos went off air.

Agree. The show used to kill me with suspense, like when Deb walked in to the church and caught Dexter, etc. This season, I'm at the point where I just don't care what happens. Vogel dead? Ok. She was just introduced this season and it was obvious something would happen. Does Dexter leave Miami with Hannah or does Hannh screw him over and he kills her? I don't care. Do Deb and crack-cocaine guy get back together? I don't care. Does the guy's restaurant go broke? ... :) It's just losing it's steam. I would have thought that since they know they have X number of episodes left that they could have started writing with that target in date to make something awesome happen.

Either way still a good show, and one of my top 5-10 favorites of all time.

I think if they do a spin off it will revolve around Quinn. I thought for a while it would be deb but I have a feeling she will be the one who dies. Dex will in fact get away and live happily ever after with Hannah. They just better not try to do some stupid **** like if deb dies Dex starts seeing her like he does Harry and she becomes his new dark passenger. And that will help keep him in line.

Episode 11 preview .15 mark talks about a hurricane coming, seems like its on the right tract

Yeah, they ran out of steam with Vogel. I was into the storyline up until the Brain Surgeon turned out to be her son. The scene where she and Dexter are discussing how he might have faked his death just killed it for me (no pun).

Starting to think they won't leave Harrison without any family. So I think Deb will die at the hands of Saxon. And from lookin at the preview I think that's Quinn M-99ing most likely Saxon. Possibly Quinn finds out about Dexter, and Ofcourse doesn't do anything about it. Season is the worst one of the series. They should have basically done season 1 and 2 merged. A crazy big bad with a personal grudge against Dexter taking out everyone around him while at the same time dexter is being hunted by Miami Metro.....but what do we get for a season finale? A very slow moving season with no tension at all...

I stopped watching halfway in.
Though it pains me to say, the writers always had a problem with too quickly brushing things under the carpet and it looks like we will get a very uneventful farewell to this show...unless they surprise us with one more season, I can't see how any of what they've been doing can lead to a good, solid ending.

Pretty sad. I was hoping it would get close to Breaking Bad epic-ness but looks like that isn't gonna happen.
