Dexter Season 7 and 8

The writers are garbage. Yes, deep down I always wanted Dexter to get rid of his dark passenger and be happy, which is what will happen (err for the most part (he won't be dead or in jail)) but seriously?!? This is how they send off one of the greatest shows in tv history? With a slow moving, unsuspenceful season? Happy with a few aspects of it but really let down by most. Hasn't dexter learned anything from his passed about not killing someone when he has the chance? This time was probably the worst. "I'm going to leave my sister with a insane serial killer along with my knives, and she can cut him loose from the chair and cuff him." hell he could have atleast helped her get him in the back of her car...

For the past few episodes I've been screaming at Hannah to just dye her hair. What kind of fugitive is she?

^^we've been saying the same thing...and rolling our eyes.
Reddit is full of anti-dexter chatter because of how poor this season turned out.
One comment that stuck with me was - the cast knows it's over, and they aren't even trying anymore.

I can sympathize if that comment holds any ground, but the writing...jeez...every turn is so predictable.
Disappointing.
At least I always have something like Season 4 to re-watch if a Dexter-fix is needed.

This season is the worst by far.

Season 5 was the worst to me by far, but this one isn't too far behind. It's been a SNOOZE FEST. At least breaking bad hasn't pussed out.

To me now season 5's episode 1 is now my ending to the show, up until the part where dexter comes back. He should have just left like he was going to and never came back IMO.
The writers are insane if they think after this anyone would watch a spin off about Quinn.

Honestly, I like Quinn. If they are thinking a Quinn spinoff it means Deb is dead. There is no way to make it interesting if he's not the slightly dirty, womanizing detective he started out as.

While I do feel that Dexter (the show) has lost a lot of its edge-of-your-seat impact, I think it is not unreasonable that he (Dexter the person) is becoming more moderate/normal as a character evolution. You can’t really compare Dexter and Breaking Bad; they are almost the opposite of each other. Dexter is sort of like Walt in reverse anyway. The emotional development of Walt is going toward psychopath, and Dexter’s psychopathic past is normalizing to a healthier place. And while I would love to see the show end in a bang, I think as a proper story arch, his conclusion should be less frenetic than Walt’s. So I am not as dissappointed in this season as a few of you seem to be.

In time to commemorate the series finale, a Dexter art print by my friend Nithin Rao.

This final season we should have seen the noose tightening in on Dexter from within the police department (like Batista starts catching on like Doakes and Laguerta), and resulted in some sort of chase... Not the snoozefest we were "treated" to...

Not impressed by a lot of that finale. I get certain aspects of it, but it was just too way over the top. Sorry writers for the show, Chris Nolan beat you to that ending for the most part.
I guess Dex managed to also fix the autopilot on the slice of life....

I LOVED IT! It ticked all the marks for me.

Granted, I do feel quite glum over Deb's death and the fact that Dexter felt he couldn't risk Harrison and Hannah's lives (He repeated that everyone he loves dies) and went to the opposite extreme of Florida to recluse himself as a lumberjack in the Northwest. He obviously is an unhappy man at the end. But I'm imagining that Saxon may have been his last kill and at some point, he will seek out and find Harrison and Hannah.

I cried......I cried for the fact, they actually made me sit there and watch that, a lame, sad, sorry, lazy excuse for what is one of the greatest (or should have been) series ever.....After trying to defend the bad aspects of this show, it feels like it was all spat back in my face this season, i cant even defend that piece of crap.....an ending like that?....I will never feel clean again. How can you ruin something as clever as Dexter? you would think it easy to create drama from a serial killer working for the police.... The start of this season was awesome, felt almost original......... Hanna should have never been brought back, she already ruined the other season, i guess she wanted another one under her belt. Deb should have shot dexter and screamed in the middle of Miami metro, what he was.... but nope....it went all down hill when she forgave him........ My neck hurts from shaking my head so freaking much. Rant over, im going to re-watch season one, and try to remember why i love this show.

:'( hold me guys......

this was a terrible season, but this was its best episode at least. I did like that Batista and Quinn had awesome moments, and Dex's last big kill was on their tapes, and excused. they really could have left out the final reveal for me. i'd rather he died in the storm. if he lived, he would have searched for his son at least

Oh Jeez...get a grip!

That seriously bummed me out. There was very little I DID like about that finale. As much as I actually like Hannah and Yvonne Strahovski, she seems to be cursed with terrible finales. Chuck's was the worst thing I've ever seen. This wasn't that bad, but dang.
