Deleting Old and usless threads *Rant

Where is the clean up crew that deletes Sold items from the junkyard?
We should have a 'time' limit that anything in the junkyard older than, say, 2 months (even that is a long time) be deleted automatically (either automated or by an individual).

I am perplexed :confused searching the board and finding two year old (or older) threads that are long dead, and contain no valuable information that have not been deleted.

I understand that people have lives and no time to do it all the time, etc. etc, but finding a thread titled as SOLD or Please Delete dated 2005, sounds more like neglect then 'not having the time'.
:unsure

Update:
A quick search shows 410 threads Marked as SOLD in the JY dated all back to 2006
and an additional 130 threads Marked PLEASE DELETE

That's over 500 usless threads in the Junkyard alone (and that ONLY counts the ones that are titled). There are 594 pages of JY FS threads. If we only 'look' at the first 3 pages, that's 11,229 threads that potentially can(should) be deleted.

I cannot be the only one here who see's a 'need' to delete these.

Sorry, I am just ranting
Can I write a rant about using black fonts that don't show up on the Star Wars background?

I'm pretty sure that old threads like that in the JY don't get deleted because most people dont look beyond the first 3 pages ever.
A time limit and auto delete whilst on the surface looks like a good solution might not always work in practice because there are sometimes long term projects on the go in the JY.

But if there are no updates for two months on a project...then it sould probably go in another category and not in the JY.

Another good reason why JY threads should be deleted on a more regular basis. It's not up to the individual who made the Thread to delete it, but the Mods. If no one even looks at JY threads past the first three pages, why keep them for so long?

...because there are sometimes long term projects on the go in the JY.

Granted, but those are not the threads I am talking about. I mean specific threads titled -SOLD or PLEASE DELETE, Auctions that ended, or those that have been pushed back to page 10 or further.

Besides, if the sale takes longer then the alloted time, simply get it stuck or post a new thread, when the old one gets deleted.

Well i doubt theres anyone that wants to work full time keeping the junkyard clean.
Theres a huge amount of traffic in the JY and yes whilst some people take the time to edit titles to SOLD or DELETE the majority don't bother.
So are the mods supposed to PM each and every thread author and ask wether they have sold their item ?
It would take up a huge amount of time and is to put it bluntly a pointless excersise, why would anyone be looking at threads that old in the JY ? they don't do they ? they just drop off into oblivion and are forgotten.
If a long term thread gets deleted automatically after 2 months as suggested starting a new one is yet another pointless task, if there is an interest list etc you have to collate all that info again.

But if there are no updates for two months on a project...then it sould probably go in another category and not in the JY

Possibly but there is no other catagory and once projects are started and interest lists and prices are mentioned they go in the JY thats the rules.
Even if it might be several months before the project reaches production.

No, that would be 100% unnecessary and pointless as you say. If the thread "dropped" off into oblivion and is forgotten as you say (which is the point of my argument), then DELETE it! If it's Titled DELETE or SOLD, DELETE it.

Seriously, I do not understand the counter-argument at all. Dead JY threads should be more regularly deleted. If you want to argue that there are exceptions, fine there are. But there still should be SOMETHING.

I just dont see the need or point in deleting them, its doing work that doesnt need doing.
So i guess the counter argument is what do they need to be deleted for ?

Fair enough. I got rid of about 80% of the JY last night. :)
That's insane! There were over 500 pages! Great job!

I was thinking - why not have a section for the Junkyard (stuff for sale), and then a seperate section for long term and short term runs?
