Re: Robo3687 - IRON MAN Mark 4/6 Pepakura FOAM Templates -Easy to Build "Green" Versi

Anyone see any potential problems with using 3mm EVA foam for the legs? I've used mainly 6mm foam for most of my Mark VI build (used a mix of 2mm and 3mm on neck, hands, and faceplate). I've seen people using a variety of foam thickness for various parts. Appreciate your insights.

Question, has anyone tried to use a pvc epoxy on the foam? to seal it and give it rigidity?
unless i am missing something i think this would work out well because you can in fact spray paint over it very well

Whew, finally made it to the end of this thread. :confused
Talk about a lot of reading. All the suits put together throughout are awesome and I can't wait to see more of them. Keep up the great work guys and gals. The world needs more Ironmen in it. :cheers

Great build so far! Love the finish on the armor. Got a couple of questions for you:
1. I assume this is all foam? How are you finishing it? I really like the matte finish.
2. The neck and chest seem to have a transitional piece between the two that provides more "detail". Is that the brace? Or are you doing something else there?
3. You have a separate thread for your build? Let us know if you do.

Keep it up!

Hey stealth just wanna say a bit thanks for your tutorials they were such a massive help on my first build im building a mark 7. I started painting the arms and helmet yesterday it was a disaster and now they have to be remade. So i ordered plasti dip and wanted to ask do you fill in the joins that you dont want to show through the paint with some sort of flexable filler?

I don't really do much with the joints. I will look around for something this time around cause I know a lot of people don't like those. I don't really notice them on anyone's suit when it's all painted up though.

I figure though, if you do enough layers of the PVA and then a few layers of straight PVA, I would assume the PVA would fille those gaps?

I think they sell flexable filler where i work i'll give it a go on a test peice and another peice with more pva. I'll let you know how i get on with it. If we do sell it its on 99p and that would probably do the whole costume. On a seperate note i bought this stuff off e-bay the other day Simply Spray Fabric Paint - POPPY RED | eBay ita a red fabric spray paint i sprayed it onto a scrap peice of foam, bent it in every direction and not one crack or crease! still looks like foam tho :unsure

Re: Robo3687 - IRON MAN Mark 4/6 Pepakura FOAM Templates -Easy to Build "Green" Versi

Sorry if this was already cleared up before but are there any MkIV foam files for below the chest piece such as boots, thighs, and leg/shins? On the first page, there is only the MkVI ones or are those for both suits?

Hello Steath: I had just watched a ton of your tutorials, very informative thanks. I have some questions if you don't mind me asking. Foam or resin w f/g, bondo which do you prefer? I did'nt see a reference to rondo, why? Has anyone tried to resin foam after the glue application? You mention in your tutorials to subscribe, how does one do that? I'm not very computer savy so that last question flew over my head. Thanx for your time, i look foward to more tutorials... Gm

if you have a YouTube account on the top left hand side of the window when your watching one of Stealths video's there's a button that says subscribe, and if you click it YouTube will notify you when he makes more video's and stuff

Re: Robo3687 - IRON MAN Mark 4/6 Pepakura FOAM Templates -Easy to Build "Green" Versi

Hey guys in my looking for materials and looking at multiple resins and castable plastics, i have found this stuff
Shell Shock® Liquid Plastic Product Information | Smooth-On
in the second paragraph of the description it says
"This product can also be brushed onto foams as an impact resistant coating that can be sanded, primed and painted (minimum 3/8" thickness recommended)"
Not sure how you guys feel about this, but i am incredibly excited knowing i can coat my thinner foam and give it a harder plastic coating that can be sanded and painted. i am currently using the 2-3mm foamies you can find atg like michaels since i was about to get 11 packs off the 40 sheet value packs for 50% off
and yes it is very flimsy but it can be reinforced with wire clothes hangers and looks like i can plastic coat it when the suit is finished with the construction faze will post pics of my progress
the scaling does fit tightly, but in my opinion, the ironman suit should be very form fitting
