Re: Robo3687's IRON MAN Mark 4/6 Pepakura FOAM Templates -Easy to Build "Green" Versi

hello all I am finally having time to get back to work on costuming. So I went back and read over all of the posts, great work by the way. I went back and started another foam project but I wanted to try the "winnie the Pooh" mats that Roy used. If you dont know it is on page 11 of this thread i think. He has the yellow suit. But I made the suit with winnie the pooh facing out. I did this because i figured the laminate or silk screen used to make the pictures would take paint with out having to coat it first. and I was right. I glued together the chest and a bicep and it worked. I primed it and it and it worked. Only thing is you only get 16sq feet instead of the 29 with the roles. price difference is 16sq ft for 15$ or 29sq ft for 19$. Diffenence is having to pay for the plasti dip or whatever you use to coat the foam. I figure I will spend 60$ on foam overall.

Re: Robo3687's IRON MAN Mark 4/6 Pepakura FOAM Templates -Easy to Build "Green" Versi

Morning all.

I made the back last night out of cheap thin foam as i normally do first, just as practice for the proper piece. thing is i feel that it might be very slightly too short at the back. can't be certain but i was considering raising the scale by 10%. Do u know if that will send it totally out of whack with the chest piece??

Thanks guys.

Re: Robo3687's IRON MAN Mark 4/6 Pepakura FOAM Templates -Easy to Build "Green" Versi

hmm are you sure the torso itself isn't too small at the scale you have it?

would make more sense to just make both at the new scale.

Hey guys love the thread .. Im done with everything above the COD, except the gloves witch I will leave til the end.

BTw any news on that video on sealing/painting the foam stealth...
A little request If u have the time .. .I imagine u are gonna use plastidip or something. could u also do a liiiiiiiittle piece with like 70/30 whiteglue/water, and see how it compares to the plastidip.

Cheers ppl will se when I post the fotos ^^

i see what you did there :D

No, im not sure at all. the chest seems fine and the back is more or less right i think
. the bottom of the back reaches just about down to the start of the curve at the bottom of my spine. that sound right? Looking at your pics it just seemed a bit lower. I thought maybe bumping the height of the back up by about 15mm. Shouldn't screw it up too much right?

Plus the chest is made from 8mm foam and the prototype back 5mm, so maybe that's making a small difference.

Re: Robo3687's IRON MAN Mark 4/6 Pepakura FOAM Templates -Easy to Build "Green" Versi

Made the back in the 8mm foam without Scaling it up. Tell me if you think its too small...

Opinions appreciated.. ignore the squinty neck piece!

thanks all.

Re: Robo3687's IRON MAN Mark 4/6 Pepakura FOAM Templates -Easy to Build "Green" Versi

it does look a little high but do you have a longer torso... that may be it how does the front look also

Re: Robo3687's IRON MAN Mark 4/6 Pepakura FOAM Templates -Easy to Build "Green" Versi

Well, here is from the side and front... the front seems right. Here it Is positioned with the bottom of the piece in line with my bottom rib.

Re: Robo3687's IRON MAN Mark 4/6 Pepakura FOAM Templates -Easy to Build "Green" Versi

the shoulders and neck seem to be riding high on you. Flatten them out a little the outside of the shoulder should hit about where your shirt sleeve seam is

Yeah, i had the back attached to the chest incorrectly. It has Since been rectified. As you say, the outside of the shoulder hits my shirt sleeve, so thats good. I think it'll be fine. I guess I'll find out for sure In the long run, but i'm fairly confident it'll be ok.

Cheers dude.

Re: Robo3687's IRON MAN Mark 4/6 Pepakura FOAM Templates -Easy to Build "Green" Versi

it really didnt look bad from the side or back... you will be fine since you attached the top correctly also you cant get the full effect until you have the abs on. Keep up the good work and posting it looks great

Re: Robo3687's IRON MAN Mark 4/6 Pepakura FOAM Templates -Easy to Build "Green" Versi

I didn't like how my Mark 4 chest looked so I modified(read: redid) it to look more like the screen used suit.

Started with this:

and here's the new chest:

I actually was going to focus more on just using glue/water mixture as the whole point my tutorial was to keep it cheap and hassle free.
I didn't go all out on painting my suit for halloween. I actually did the glue method.

but I will add the plasti-dip option to the video as well.
