Re: What's the rarest/hardest SW found item to...errr...find out there? Pics inside

I scored three Holoemitters for R2 once, for $30 a pop when the part was IDed and a source sold the remaining stash to the R2 group... the Viscount lights. Sold them to fund a non-prop expense back in 2001, and took really nice pics, which to this day are still being used to describe the parts, lol. Should have watermarked it, eh?

http://r2.robotbuilders.net/parts.htm

The parts sold for near $400 a pop. It was an embarrasingly gross profit - but I started the auctions for a dollar... it was simply a case of deep pocketed R2 builders HAVING to have them, I guess.

When the M19 scopes were hard to find and very expensive some 5+ years ago I was able to score one for $160.....although they're not so rare nor expensive any more as one just went off on ebay a week ago for ....$160

Well, from the more recent films, AFAIK Jango's Kenneth Cole Pit Crew boots have never been found in the exact style used in the film. They have been identified and a couple people have found variations on the Pit Crew Boots and people have found other shoes with the same sole (including myself) but the exact ones haven't been found.

No one has Identified or found the car instrument bezel that is used for the Han in Carbonite and on the dash board of the Falcon.

The Simrad macros are pretty rare at least real ones are.

Nice collection of parts!
My rarest pieces are probably my Derwent parts - the Obi emitter and IG-88 head.
There are many parts I'm always on the lookout for!

For exemple
It took me a few weeks to find this, the correct device for the Vader ANH mesh :

What's inside this thing? Any other potential SW parts?

My rarest piece is also a Derwent Interconnect. I doubt there will be many more of these found.

Not sure these are counted as found parts but the stormtrooper mic tips have driven me nuts for years. We know exactly what they look like we have a serial number / manufacturers number written on them - 'Hovi mix Pa2' - and yet I still cannot source an original.

Cheers Chris.

My 8mm Eumig Servomatic and real Kalimar viewfinder and lenses for Luke's Macros were a pain- but it all looks so sweet when put together...(The images below are not mine- but my Luke ANH macros look just like this)

I actually made two sets- but I can't remember who I sold the other one to..?

Re: What's the rarest/hardest SW found item to...errr...find out there? Pics inside

The metal boxes used on Vader, Chewie, and Officers in ANH. They are a bit different but undoubtably the same sort of box.
I know at least one Vader expert knows, but largely I would consider them very hard to find.

Re: What's the rarest/hardest SW found item to...errr...find out there? Pics inside

I've had the Kaiser photo stock for quite some time since I positively ID'd it, although mine has the black button, not the orange. I've only seen one other pop up on ebay since, and it also had a black button. And I think it was missing the strap, IIRC.

Actually, I just reviewed my thread from last year, and I'm not so sure it matters what color button you get. Look at the top two pics here: http://www.therpf.com/showthread.php?t=10060&highlight=kaiser&page=3 The pic with the orange button has the grip on backwards. The other photo shows it as black, although it might just be painted over. Guess it depends on which Fett version you're going for.

I have been looking for a set of those for about 20 years!! You mean the silver rectangular ones on the gun belts and Chewie's bandolier right?

Re: What's the rarest/hardest SW found item to...errr...find out there? Pics inside

Yes the bigger boxes here

And the ones on the belt here.

They seem like they would be simple to find, but no cigar so far for many.

Re: What's the rarest/hardest SW found item to...errr...find out there? Pics inside

Dont really worry too much about finding original items as there are so many great replicas about.
The only thing i want to do is build myself a great E11, i've got myself a minty fresh factory finish L2A3 deac ( If anyone in the UK is after one i can give you the source, seller cant export im afraid ) and i've got a nice M38 scope with very little wear, still hunting for the correct counter(complete), and i wish someone would identify those bloody cylinders :D

Re: What's the rarest/hardest SW found item to...errr...find out there? Pics inside

A lot of parts were found in the past year and a half: OWK lightsaber parts & Solo flash surpessor. And the Macrobinocular parts.

Still baffling are the following, in no certain order:
  1. Jawa Giant Blaster
  2. cylinders for MSE droid & E-11s
  3. correct model number for scope rings on Solo ROTJ blaster
  4. actual leather thingy at end of Jawa Ion Blaster (someone did nice replica a few years ago)
  5. blue sided glass thingies used on Treadwell & in Death Star Detention Block (that get blasted)
  6. actual side parts to ROTJ E-11
  7. greeblies for Nostromo Motion Tracker

Re: What's the rarest/hardest SW found item to...errr...find out there? Pics inside

Aren't they Radio Shack metal project boxes from the late 70s?

Re: What's the rarest/hardest SW found item to...errr...find out there? Pics inside

  1. actual side parts to ROTJ E-11
The greeblies on the scope rail on some ESB E-11's.
Some were used on "hero" blasters made from real Sterlings, but the resin-cast stunt blaster is more common.

Then there is the problem of finding the correct T-track that was used on several lightsabers and many blasters. Tracks that are quite close to the correct shape have been found, but not the real thing.
