Defiance

I've played some of the game over this weekend. Honestly, I like it. I don't see why a few people say the game sucks.

It's a fun way to pass the time. :)

I agree. The only issue I have with it so far is that you can sell weapons you've earned due to achieving missions, yet you can't sell the damn ATV you pick up at the start of the game for cash (I'm trying to save up to get a Challenger, but between unable to sell the ATV and keep dying during missions, it's kinda hard to get in that over $10,000 scrip limit).

Regarding the game, I'm a total n00b at gaming. MMOs are a bit intimidating to me. Grant Bowler said on Twitter that he thought I could handle it, but I'm not so sure. *grin* Fun for a n00b? Worth the scrip?

If your PC can run it, you can play a free trial and not shell out the scrip without knowing if you like it. Personally, I've always kind of sucked at shooter-type games, but I've enjoyed Defiance a lot and have gotten a lot better with my gameplay.

Oh, a free trial? Cool!

My PC can run it. I actually run a gaming rig for the power for graphics stuff, but don't game. I never thought about doing a trial. Can I do it through Steam or what? I use Steam for the few games I do play. I'll go check it out and see! And I'm so with you on first-person shooters. Just not my style/I suck at them. Flight simulators, RPGs...ok. FPS? Not so much.

The trial is only available through the website, unfortunately, but once you decide if you want it, you can always pick up your license key through Steam. :)

Also, any RPFers who play can feel free to friend me. My gamer tag is NuruSekhmet.

My main issue with the game is that it is a one time purchase. As long as the series is on the air we will get new content, but after the show goes off the air there will fewer purchases to fund additional content unless they charge for it. They may have been better off with a monthly charge model instead. So I'm just going to enjoy it while I can.

Norman - they just released new content not related to the episodes, as they've finally released the Castithan DLC. And they still may have some stuff they may release in between seasons.

I just had a funny thought: could you guys imagine us starting a clan? That's be insane.

That'd be awesome! I'd totally join with one of my alts (my main is already clanned up).

We should all make an RP clan!!! I got the Script to start it if you guys can come up with a name unless we just want to call it the RPF or something.

I'm mostly a lurker here but man, if an RPF clan started I would be SO IN. I could really use some incentive to keep playing.I enjoy the gameplay but it's a bit of a slog.

That's why I thought an RP might make it a bit more fun.

I know nothing about this (total n00b, remember?), but I'm game if a complete n00b like me would be welcome, despite my lurking here for the most part.

I plan to try the game tonight, as I have to stay up late for work (I work nights and am off today, but work tomorrow, so I stay up late to switch over for that), so who knows? It might work out?

Wait, where is everyone playing? It would be a bummer if there was only one or two of us on each platform. I'm playing PC. Can't recall the server offhand.

Yes, but the show is still being made and people are buying the game so they have income to support the servers. If the show was cancelled and nobody was buying then eventually they will turn off the lights. That being said I see most of the good stuff in the DLC costs money.

For the recent DLC, it's only $9.99, as oppose to the $20.00+ per month subscription in past MMORPGs that went with the monthly subscription method. At least with the game, you don't have to purchase the DLC if you don't want to, as its not important to your gaming experience (unless you're in a clan where everyone has chosen to update their game and there are missions you do not have access to because you don't have it).

BTW, for those who want to add me to their friend's list in the game, I go by the name Chase Lonehart in game. Keep in mind, since I still have school (which includes clinicals), I may not be online during the week and depending on what I'm doing on the weekends, I may/may not be on).

I'm thinking about buying the package that includes this and the next four DLC's. Don't be surprised if you get a request from Sporadicus. And for anybody else, I only accepting friend requests if I recognize your name.
