HEY THERE EVERYBODY

I'm going to be making a deadmau5 LED kind of head, and i REALLY need some help finding out what to do with the leds!

Everything is wired on the inside of the helmet, and just in case you guys have no idea what i'm talking about you can check out what the helmet does and what some of the wiring looks like in a fan made version here : uiproductions: Deadmau5 LED head replica at comic con

what i really would love to know from you guys is:

1.Where to get the leds
2. What to get
3. What to use to program them (without having a computer hooked up) *I THINK AN ARDUINO DOES THIS BUT IDK WHAT KIND OF ARDUINO TO GET*
4. What kind of arduino to get if #3 is correct

THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!
Isaac

P.s. LINKS ARE FINE!!!

Dont know if you're still working on this, but I am doing one as well.. as I decide where I will order my LED's from, I'll let you know if you're still interested.

I've only been able to find 1 LED that could potentially be the ones necessary. They come in strands of 25, but the wires linking them are a 12 inches long, so a large amount of soldering would have to be done (for space-saving on the inside of the helmet)
Here's the link for the 16 mm diffused FLAT RGBs
