This is a blaster factory ddc defender kit. It didn't come with the Vernon hawker tomtit cylinder, I was able to source one on line Its not an original. It also didn't come with the coiled cable, fortunately I had some. The push button greeblie I bought from wanna wango. The first thing I did was clean up all the milling marks and burs. I took the yellow top off the wanna wango push button and filled it half full of resin since it was hollow. I drilled and tapped a 4x40 hole on the front sight and screwed the push button in place. Then I put the yellow cover back on the push button. I coated all bare aluminum parts with a flat black primer. Since most of the margolin pistol I've seen have sort of a grayish color to them I did a very light mist of alclad ii dark aluminum over the black primer. I rubbed a dry rag over the surface of the painted parts to shine them up. After that I used 0000 steel wool and Slightly scuffed up the painted parts where they might get scuffed or impacted. Then I sealed all painted parts with Tamiya clear clear coat. Not exactly gloss and not satin either. I did most of the wearing down of corners and edges of parts before assembly. I put j&b cold weld on the barrel before I pinned it in place to make sure it was secure and couldn't turn. I cut and trimmed the the coiled cable and glued it in place. I slightly wore down all screw heads and added some pastel powder in areas I thought grit/dust might collect over time. This was a fun build and I'm pretty happy with the finish. If anyone has any suggestions for a more realistic finish please I'd love constructive criticism if any. The alignment of the Vernon hawker cylinder wasn't intentional. Meaning where the seam lined up. The glue I used cured very fast and I was stuck with it.
