DC Clayface costume

I started sculpting the legs. We figured EVA foam would be the most resilient material to use since the legs will have to put up with all the abuse from movement and bumping into stuff.

This is a rough sculpt of the right calf with a test color just to get a good look at it.

This looks awesome so far. I think foam will also be the right texture as I imagine clayface to be kinda squishy!

Keep us posted!

This looks awesome so far. My only question is how do you plan on hiding the gaps in the joints?

The foam will be covered in a sleeve that connects the parts and hides the gaps. The sleeve will be top-coated with a rubber coating that will be detailed and colored.

I'm sure this will be awesome then. I'm actually working on an animated series Batman costume and would love to do a cosplay fight.

It never ceased to amaze me what people put together and what imagination and talent can produce.

Cool project!

Will the sleeve be glued down to the foam parts or be a loose skin?

I could see benefits and limitations with either approach.

It will be glued down tight against the form. Then several processes to create that unique 'wet clay' look on top of that and then final color.

it's really cool to see a project like this, slightly unconventional but also surprises me someone hasn't tried it before(at least as convinving as this build is) keep up the good work!

My partner Joe and I are spending the whole day working on the Clayface costume so there should be some good pictures to share once the day is done.

Looks great so far!

I'm in CT, when/where is the Con? I might get off my but and try to finish my Rocket Red costume if theres time!
