Day / Night of the Doctor – I’m Confused Possible Spoilers

Cos the sonic is like the Doctor's smartphone, and he syncs it with the Tardis console every time he goes back inside, thereby backing-up. All he had to do for a new Sonic was restore his operating system from the most recent backup.

Or it's kinda wifi attached to the TARDIS and the computing info is shared.

Course that would mean that the Doc should be able to summon the TARDIS with the sonic if he wanted to... seems that he, or the writers more likely have forgotten or deliberately not done that as it would close off a lot of dramatic avenues.

So wifi shared computing but only when he is very close to, or inside the TARDIS itself.

Pure speculation of course!

The reason the created The War Doctor was that Eccleston refused to come back for the 50thn anniversary.

That doesn't make a lick of sense. Eccleston may have indeed refused to come back, but when the 9th Doctor is introduced in the first episode of the relaunched series, it's clear that he's a new regeneration and it's JUST happened. That's why he admires himself in the mirror and remarks on his teeth and ears and such.

Most people assumed that the 8th Doctor was the one who fought in the war, and that he did something terrible to result in becoming the 9th Doctor, who was, himself, fraught with melancholia. My theory was always that the 8th Doctor started off as a cheerful, idealistic, upbeat fellow, who gradually darkened and then had to do something terrible (e.g. sacrifice the Time Lords to kill the Daleks and save time itself), which resulted in his regeneration into the 9th Doctor.

As it turns out, something kinda sorta like that happened, but it was the War Doctor, not the 8th Doctor, who did it. I tend to think that they added the War Doctor because...Moffat likes to throw curve balls in a big way.
