Darth Maul Fabric and Patterns??

bumparoo. please don't let this thread die.........

Haha, it isn't dead...it is just REALLY slow. I finished the inner tunic quickly, but I'm seriously swamped with real life. I used to get on TDH and RPF a couple times a day, but now I'm lucky to get on once a month. I've been talking with Eopie, and I'm setting time aside to get these done. The outer tunic will take some time to get perfect, but I'm sure everyone will be happy with it in the end.

CHEERS!

Hey Mr Bungle. After your querry I got a couple of new Maul candidates in my garrison so I had to go do some more research. Funny that we should both end up here. It looks like this is the place to be.

Sorry didn't mean to hijack the thread.....continue.

sweet, every garrison should have a good vader and a good maul!!!

keep up the great work guys!!

i have question, why does the sashes look greyishgreen on the movie used stuff and in the film they look black, i do realize that when they film movies things tend to look darker.
here is an example on what i am talking about.

i found these on the net, i am not sure who they belong to but if they don't won't me posting it here please let me know.

They were dyed black and then overdyed green. If there wasn't a subtle difference in color, the costume would appear as a dark blob on film. This enabled it to have depth to it. Still looks black, but the camera was able to pick up on the different layers due to the different shades.

so the crepe/crinkle silk needs to be dyed balck then green?? or thry to find a suitiable shade pre made??

and is the loin cloth the same material?? it looks like it.

I still wanna know what fabric the outter most robe was made of. Very similar if not the same fabric (as in looks the same from the internet pictures) as Anakin's AOTC cloak IMO.

i was looking at material yesterday and almost looks like burlap, but it is not. monks cloth looked real close to. but i think kwally said it was tussah. a hand woven indian silk.

here is some material i got from ryu kumon for the outer robe on the left. and some crinkle silk i got on the right for the sash. i think they both are very close to the real deal.

sorry about the flash, but they are darker in real life.

does anybody give a crap????

just wondering........

Haha, I give a crap! I ended up purchasing the costume from Eopie Herder because I was taking so long to get this done. As of now, the costume is being patterned by a professional because I don't have the time right now. I don't know how long it will take, but I will get this done for ya!

Hey everyone.
Just wanted to say, this is an awsome thread but too bad its nearly dead. I am beginning my own DM and starting to look at fabrics. This thread was a huge help.

Any ideas as to the status of the patterns? Seems like this thread may be dead by now which is a shame.

Does anyone know any other links to patterns? Seems like everywhere I search doesnt compare to whats offered here. Thanks in advance.

I think the last I spoke with Kwally about it, he was caught up in a load of work for school. If I remember correctly. I know he had a lot on his plate at the time.
