Darkside501st's Iron Man Mk VII pepakura files - Password in First Post

Re: Darkside501st's Iron Man Mk VII pepakura files - New Pics pg 100!!

Darkside, I would like to donate to your efforts, I read days ago where and how I could do this. Please refresh my memory. Hope I didn't insult anyone saying I want to be ready for halloween, I am a perfectionist and I hope to make my suit killer, not to mention come up with some ideas for you hardcore ers out there. I will be sharing any electronics that I make with this site. Again my suit will have very nice lines and symatry, but will not be accurate to movie. It's all about surprising my 8 year old son at school this year. I also work in the oil field, and wonder what the cleaning staff think of my suit as it comes together in my room. Have to do glass work in our monitor bump station on nights, good exhaust and no one around. Pain in the ***** but from what i have already made, this will be well worth it. Has anyone posted dimentions for the mask opening mechinism, no use reinventing the wheel. I have seen many operating on U tube, but I have never seen any drawings on lever dimentions, etc. If not i will have one of my eng. buddies work on it.

Thanks

Re: Darkside501st's Iron Man Mk VII pepakura files - New Pics pg 100!!

I still don't know if I got the right scale (0.95 file for a head circumference of22.6 inch), but anyway as this is the first time I do papercraft, I will possibly start over again once I finish it :)

Well... I definitely measured my head wrong so the helmet will be too small :facepalm

I think I have been working about 15h to get about the 60% of the helmet done (all except the jaw and the faceplate), I will finish this helmet and do it again at 1.05 scale which should be enough for my big head :D. So when I get to the fiberglass stage I will have the smaller helmet to test everything before, as I also have never do any fiberglassing...

Re: Darkside501st's Iron Man Mk VII pepakura files - New Pics pg 100!!

I finished the glove and it still seems a bit large. It fits around the wrist, seems a bit long on the back of the hand (can't bend my hand 90°) and the knuckle seems a bit wide.

I couldn't figure what to do with the "hand repulsor" thing that's not attached to the glove, so I simply glued it after cutting the edges.

Wow man , how did you make edges so clean ?

I take my time and mark the fold lines with the Xcto knife ;)

I began to bondo the upper forearm. First coat with sanding. Will be a long work :D I prefer to train myself on somewhat invisible parts rather than the helmet or chest :D

This is polyester putty I found in a auto repair shop.

Re: Darkside501st's Iron Man Mk VII pepakura files - New Pics pg 100!!

Thanks to Darkside for the password. I'm Italian and my English is not perfect, but I'm building my armor because I love iron man mark 7 since I was small. Anyway here's some pictures, I hope not to make a bad impression is the first time I use foam and build something like this ... thank you! You are very great and I follow you for a lifetime!

Re: Darkside501st's Iron Man Mk VII pepakura files - New Pics pg 100!!

Wow, it has been a busy weekend for all things Iron Man. I had an enormous amount of emails and PMs to respond to not to mention getting caught up on the 104 threads I am subscribed to. lol

Damn Darkside, this chest is a nightmare on Iron Street. I am crawling my way through this one. But the results are stunning. Thanks for hooking it up so major dude. You are the manView attachment 179742.View attachment 179740

Thanks. lol I am making the V2 files a little easier to build. It may not help you since you are already diving in but just as a note for those to come.

Hi all!

Just letting you know I started builing darkside's helmet, I still don't know if I got the right scale (0.95 file for a head circumference of22.6 inch), but anyway as this is the first time I do papercraft, I will possibly start over again once I finish it :)

I think your work is great and I hope I can get this done right!

Many thanks to darkside for making the files available!!

Thank you and you are welcome.

password ?:D

Send me a PM (Private Message) request for the password.

The first helmet cast from plastic for further completion.

Now there will be a polishing, giving of ideally roundish form and specification addition

Looking good so far. Keep it up.

Hey, thanks for the files, just one question. I'd like to let the laser cutter do the work for me (foam), but pepakura viewer can't export vector files.
I guess you don't have a solution for me. :/

All the V1 files can be exported in vector format. I will make a request to add this to the Pep Viewer program.

Hey DarkSide,
I haven't been on for a while and I'm still catching up on the thread. What's the deal now for getting the right scaling? Are you providing the password so we can make our own adjustments? Or are you just sending files for the sizes we already need?

All the V1 files can still be opened in Pep Designer for scaling. V2 files will have different scales already uploaded to the skydrive. Just download the one you want.

Hi Darkside501st, first of all thanks for all your hard work, your MK7 is awesome!

Would you (or anybody else) be able to tell me if your MK7 chin/jaw would fit straight onto the MK6 cheek (from sharkhead). Im at the point in my paper prep that I could easily redo and add the chin, I just can't bring myself to redo the whole thing :s. It would be nice to have your mk7 rounded chin and the correct lower lip indentation.

I had originally started out with a view to doing the mk6 but have since changed my mind and would like to do a foam build mk7.

This site is great btw guys! thanks

Thanks, I do believe that the jaw/chin from the Mk VII will fit on Sharkmarks' helm. Only way to know for sure is to print it up and see. Should be printed at the same scale.

So darkside :p
What part are you working on ?

I have donation information listed on the first post. If you have any questions then feel free to send me a PM. Also I would like to keep this thread on track with pepakura and foam Mk VII builds. If you would like to share other items such as your electronics info then please create a separate build thread for that.

Looking good so far... it is a lot of work but have patience and keep working on it till it is perfect.

Yes, that is the best way to do it. Unless you plan on throwing away your first few helmets, lol.

No time for that, mate! :) And I won't put bondo all over the helmet anyway. Little by little to keep the edges clean and sharp.

Have you seen IM3 already? :)

Re: Darkside501st's Iron Man Mk VII pepakura files - New Pics pg 100!!

It was on fourth page of your INT post for repulsor. (btw, had to add you as a friend on FB to look at your link, it seems I don't have access to the picture you linked).

Well, back to original thread :)

Hey darkside i loved your gloves pictures. Is it possible if you can add some more detailed pics of the gloves on your hand ? I was wondering how you filled the gaps between the finger joints. And the use of thin glove you mentioned before.

Re: Darkside501st's Iron Man Mk VII pepakura files - New Pics pg 100!!

If i were to set everything to a scale of 25 would it roughly fit? i.e fore arms, shins, etc?. or does every individual piece need to be scaled specifically. I can just plug in 25 and then go cut the templates out of foam can i?
