Darkside501st's Iron Man Mk VII pepakura files - Password in First Post

Re: Darkside501st's Iron Man Mk VII pepakura files - New Pics pg 100!!

Even though Tony made all those specialty suits, I still feel like his mark 7 was the most advanced/ powerful. The mark 42 wasn't that great IMO.

Re: Darkside501st's Iron Man Mk VII pepakura files - New Pics pg 100!!

I agree, I was disappointed that the Mk 42 had so many bugs that never got fixed. Could have been so cool.

Re: Darkside501st's Iron Man Mk VII pepakura files - New Pics pg 100!!

I think that mainly had to do with the new director. I think if Favreau would've stayed the director, IM3 would've been SO AWESOME... but personally, I was disappointed.

I would rank the Best: IM2.
2nd best: IM1
and 3rd: IM3.... DISTANT 3rd, that is.

And it PAINS me to have to say that, but it's an honest opinion.

It was a shame Favreau left, but I'd have to say the first film was better... second was ruined for me once I watched this trailer :')

Not seen IM3 yet because of exams, but hoping that it's not as disappointing as people are saying it is!

So, this is how I have my helmet right now, I know it's not much, but I would like to know if you guys think I need to fill those gaps you see in a few places before resining the helmet, or the resin will take care of it?

I plan to do the jaw and faceplate this weekend but I will have to wait until the next weekend to do the resin and fiberglass as I don't have a proper place to do this in my flat.

Thanks!

I watched Iron Man 3 three times. First by myself, second with my family and third with my friends. First time around I was disappointed. Second and third time, it was ok. But the movie could have been SO MUCH MORE. And for that I blame the director, Shane Black. It was like he didn't take his job seriously and put too much comedy in the movie so much so that it lost a lot of important elements. As a review I read said, IM3 reached the standard of a good movie, yet it failed to GRASP it. I hope that RDJ is able to renew his contract so that it can be fixed in Avengers 2 and possibly IM4

I think it would be best if you ease a little bit on the cutting. You don't have to fully cut on all the lines, just score it enough to fold it into shape. You remedied it correctly by using bits of cardstock to stick the pieces together, but for future reference just be careful how you cut.

I only cut the continuous lines (even if they are in the middle of the piece), not the dashed ones, but I still get some gaps... are you saying I shouldn't cut all the continuous lines??

Hey, that was a pretty cool trailer.... from a COMEDIC stand point.

But yeah, definately dont want to watch that Before seeing the movie.

Indeed. If the flap is not big enough, don't bother to cut the continuous lines and treat them as fold lines.

my prototype. no finger, no elbow, no shoulder, no hand plate and i got no idea how to connect the forearm with bicep

Re: Darkside501st's Iron Man Mk VII pepakura files - New Pics pg 100!!

Thanks! I thought these cuts were needed even in those cases to get the actual shape from the 3d model and a fold wasn't enough. I will fix those places and leave them uncut in the next pieces :)

Yeah, I have to agree... IM2 and the Avengers are real close for me but bringing all those superheros together was epic.

Practise, and lots of it!

Yes, practice and also score the extreme fold lines with an xacto blade.

Yes, you don't need to cut all the lines... there is a sensitivity setting that you can adjust so that those lines wont show up too. Anyways... if both sides of the cut line are touching or even a hair or two apart then I don't cut them. In order to fix what you did you need to use the tabless pep method to glue those sides together and close the holes.

Haha yes of course, I still enjoyed it, but got a big chuckle out of this trailer watching it the other week.

All of the films are wonderful - especially Avengers, that was so epic... loved a lot of the VFX shots in Avengers/IM1/IM2 as well!

Anyway, I'll stop hijacking Darkside's thread haha (sorry! :3 )

Well, it's all patched now and the helmet feels much stronger :)

While the plastic helmet is diligent ground and finished, decided to cut off back part at a paper helmet to check as he will sit on the head. Sits perfectly!
