Hey Guys. Are you all attaching the lower forearm to the upper? I did while working on my final assemble and noticed that the Repulsor movement/action won't line up with the forearm and hand shield. Guessing I shouldn't have but I glued it pretty good :( didn't want the lower forearm to slip off accidentally.

Or are you leaving the hand separate from the hand guard or maybe attach the hand guard to the forearm with elastic so it can twist and pivot?

Re: Darkside501st's Iron Man Mk VII pepakura files **New note in VIP section**

Hey guys,

I've got almost everything figured out now, except...

The shoulders

It looks like they need to connect at the top of the bicep, but the bicep slips down my arm all the time. I tried cutting a groove so it would fit under my armpit better and stay higher, but it's still slipping down and I don't want to cut a bigger groove.

Any advice here for attaching the shoulders?

What about attaching the shoulder to a section of the back?

How are some of you pros attaching the chest and back together? Ar e you all using a brace under all of it, or an additional foam piece?

I am not sure I understand what problem you are having with the upper and lower forearm interfering with your repulsor. I velcroed mine together just so I could make adjustments later and to provide a little flexibility. There shouldn't be a problem gluing it though.

I attached my handplate to my hand with a hinge at the knuckles and an elastic strap at the back of the hand plate that attaches to the inside of the back of the hand. This provides a good deal of movement and keeps the handplate tight against the forearm/hand. I would not attach the handplate to the forearm as that is not very accurate.

Awesome! can't wait to see some pics. I still say you can use the MkVI neck and helmet. The minor differences can be changed in the finishing stages (pep/fiberglass/bondo) or you can just adjust the templates (foam).

I would attach the shoulders to the back piece via a plastic snap buckle (official name?) and then you can attach the arms to the shoulders. This should keep everything in place. You can also see what other people have done and the pros and cons of their methods. Do a search for Iron Man harness or Iron Man attach.

I think STEALTH has put a video on his youtube channel (theherotutorials) about this.

Hi Darkside

Kudos to the hard work that you've been doing for the 1st and 2nd version of the Mark VII! I believe at least 1,000 people would be lost without your pep files.

May I know which parts will not see a 2nd version so that I can finish them before your release of the 2nd version? : )

I used STEALTH's method using webbing and buckles, checkout this video if you haven't already. TUTORIAL - "SUIT UP!" How to Connect Foam Armor Costume Parts - YouTube

When assembling armor, you really need to consider how the body works. For example, the shoulder is a ball and socket joint. The humerus attaches to both the clavical AND the shoulder blade, (or, scapula). So, I would speculate that your shoulder armor may function best if it is attatched to BOTH the breast-plate and the back-plate. Function MUST precede form. I hope that helps. Look up shoulder anatomy on the net and check it out. knowing how the body functions will help you with your armor's form.

First, thanks a bunch for all of your replies.

I watched the video by Stealth, and I now can't believe I didn't think to check his channel first. The connection points for the shoulders make total sense, and I have a ton of those buckles sitting around.

Interestingly, I did the exact same setup for the chest/back that he did without watching the video. For the arms I used fasteners that you use on fabric, though I'm contemplating the chicago screws now. The nice thing about the fastener is that you can separate pieces more easily if you need to.

I'll follow up later with how it goes.

Re: Darkside501st's Iron Man Mk VII pepakura files **New note in VIP section**

I know there's a tutorial for assembling zabana's hands somewhere.

I didn't know there was a tutorial. What points are you having trouble with?

You will have to watch and see :popcorn I am trying to make them as perfect as I can. I don't want to give a date cause sometimes stuff comes up and I have to put this on the backburner for a little while. But I am whittling away at it. Maybe I will post a teaser pic of some parts I have done.
