Darkside501st's Iron Man Mk VII pepakura files - Password in First Post

Re: Darkside501st's Iron Man Mk VII pepakura files **New note in VIP section**

These are the abs so far. I was just about to start connecting them with elastic when i realized permanently attaching them would make paint very difficult. Guess i'll have to wait until after paint unless I can come with a way for them to connect and detach easily with the elastic. Any ideas anyone?

DasHHAt- if you read this, did u have to paint first? Or have you already come up with a work-around?

OH by the way, in case anyone is wondering. i know it may look like they dont line up easily, but once you wrap em around your torso the way they should be they come together perfectly. Darkside took everything into account it seems. thanks again darkside

everything is size up well except the shins. those are friggin huge for the height so i gotta do some reshaping with heatgun and do some cutting. the calves seems to be ultra huge for the default scale. i shoulda adjusted but too late now.

Darkside501st's, thanks for replying but I have no PM in my inbox, possibly delete the message without realizing I'm familiar with the surroundings of the RPF.
Agradesco you send me again into data files passwords so that they can adjust them to my son.
Thank you.

I went the same direction with the abs and what I did was there were a few pieces were to go on the back of the first abs (the 4) which I duplicated and glued to the round the body abs/obliques, closing them into a circle. I then cut in the middle of them and posted velcro inside and on a flap inside, which was nice, as now I have a flat surface for the lobster tail abs to ride along. On the Lobster tail abs, I put elastic between each plate then glued an E Clip and strap to the lower interior of the cod so. The top half I glued elastic inside and to the chest, so, it now moves up and down and somewhat side to side, while floating on the obliques. Make sense?

Makes perfect sense actually. Did u do this before paint and finish? The overlapping pieces seem like it would be very difficult to paint. I didn't want to glue the elastic on until I either had it all painted or created a way to easily remove each section from the elastic when it was time to paint.

I did the Obliques part before paint and I did the Lobster tail after paint. By overlapping the plates and using parallel strips of elastic perpendicular to the top/bottom of the plates, I can bend forward allowing the plates to ride under each other or I can bend backward and the plates ride over each other. I thought it kind of along the concept of Roman Lorica Segmentata. Iron Man Style.

That is a nice picture. I would paint everything before assembly. You could use velcro to make removable connections to the elastic bands and webbing straps. But definitely paint it while in separate pieces.

Very nice, looks like it is coming along pretty good. Can't wait to see more.

You are welcome, it was my pleasure to make these files.

I have been asked about a scaling guide for pepakura and while there are several sources for good information out there. I have not seen a complete guide with all the information assembled together.

This would be a rather large task to take on but relatively simple. I would like to post a guide for everyone to be able to reference to. However, I do not have the time to put it together.

So I am going to ask someone here to step up to the plate. I will reward the individual by putting him/her on the VIP list and granting early access to the Version 2 files.

I am looking for someone that is a veteran pep/foam builder and who is intimately familiar with Pepakura Designer (not like making out with your computer kind of intimate, that is just creepy). I want to put together a complete guide. This may have to go through a couple revisions as I want to 'approve' the final product. Also, this needs to be an authentic guide. Any unique information obtained from a direct source will have to be referenced. So for example, if you quote a section of the guide located here:
How To Scale Your Pepakura Armour-Tutorial
Then you will need to put a number reference by the quote and reference the source at the end of the guide.

I have posted some scaling information I would like to include here as well:
http://www.therpf.com/f24/pepakura-help-159373/

The guide will be uploaded to my skydrive and you will be credited as the author of the guide.

So, is anyone up for this task?

A guide on scaling pep and foam files. Having built in both mediums is a plus cause you will have made pitfalls and mistakes that you can draw experience from.

Streetsoul, you are already on the VIP list. Let's give someone else a chance... if there are no other takers and you want to do it then we will see what you come up with. ;) :popcorn

Re: Darkside501st's Iron Man Mk VII pepakura files **New note in VIP section**

Thanks darkside for these great files and thanks to everyone on this forum! This website has been my lifesaver for the past 3 months.

Here's a picture of my 4 year old all ready for Halloween. There is a huge gap between the mouth and jaw because I decided to do a little more bondo work after I cut out the faceplate and jaw.
