The VIP section is a part of the opening (first) post in this thread. I put all my info in the opening post. You can find updates, links, new info, and additions to the VIP section there.

Re: Darkside501st's Iron Man Mk VII pepakura files **New note in VIP section**

This is much harder than anticipated. Thought it would be tough but I'd at least be making progress. After scaling the abs 4 times I finally got one right, but if that's any indication of how the rest of the suit will go.. I think I'm ready to throw in the towel.

I've got the iron man shirt from thinkgeek, or the blacksabbath tshirt tony wears in the avengers, might slip an arc reactor under that and grow a stash and just be "tony stark" instead of iron man

Don't lose hope the abs are one of the most difficult pieces, and if they are scaled right then you can check the scale factor mine is 27 and the default is 23. as long as the scale factor is the same the pieces should fit

Sorry to hear you are having a hard time. I fully admit, I made these files with a lot of detail. Some members have said they prefer to add all the details in the finishing stage. I respect that and that is why I am building the Version 2 files with a basic and advanced pep in mind. The basic files will not have any of the groove lines... just the shape of the parts. I think this will make it a lot easier for many of you guys.

hey gyus i've started it with building arms but the problems still showing up i built bicep and forearm. i've connected them but biceps hinge distance is too short that means you can not move you forearm wider than 80* edge so please make some edit on those parts

I would like to thank Tweak13 for being a big supporter of my work and for his contributions to this project. Your name has been added to the VIP section and you will get early access to the V2 files. Thank you very much.

Re: Darkside501st's Iron Man Mk VII pepakura files **New note in VIP section**

I have looked up a lot of tutorials about scaling, but I am trying to figure out the correct way to measure certain parts. The default scale for the cod is a no go LOL. However, the biceps worked fairly well. I understand the concept behind scaling, its more of what point to what point.

You have to use the measurement tool. Right-click in the 2D window and at the bottom of the pop-up menu you will see the measurement tool. This will allow you to measure between two points on the model. So you can check the actual size of any area on the part.

Also, I have posted further explanation and advice here:

Really excited to see the v2 files when they are done. I don't have much at the moment, but I'll chip in what I can right now to help support your work, darkside501st!

I just want to say thank you to Blue Inferno7 and to LawNinja for being big supporters of my work and for their contributions to this project. Both of your names have been added to the VIP section and you will get early access to the V2 files.

Re: Darkside501st's Iron Man Mk VII pepakura files **New note in VIP section**

I'm having some trouble putting the abs together on my foam build.

I built each of the four rows, but I'm having a hard time figuring out how to join them. I didn't offset the top piece of the sides, which was perhaps a bad call on my part. From what I can tell it looks like they should almost interlock, but they don't quite match up.

Can someone give me some pointers on how to assemble these? Photos would be greatly appreciated.

I also saw an animated gif of a setup that was just elastic with plastic pieces mounted to it. Part of me is tempted to try and go that route instead and do something custom if the foam implementation doesn't work out.

Re: Darkside501st's Iron Man Mk VII pepakura files **Links Fixed and New Update**

wow how did you do it before the movie ??? from trailer ?

Re: Darkside501st's Iron Man Mk VII pepakura files **New note in VIP section**

hand plate problem still exists and one more problem showed up here it is i've assembled wrist and forarm them problem is i can't fold my elbow at least 80* without broking my pep. so i've cut trought red line but bicep looks bad. then i've cut trought blue line this one fixed my problem. this post may help other people has same problem with me xD.
darkside if you're still working on mark 7 V2 please make this part foldable enought. at least 110*
and i'wanna say these are best prop i've ever build !!! supports, unfolds .. etc

I made those rows so that they would interlock and move over each other. They can then be connected in several different ways. You can strap each row to an elastic band like the animated GIF you mentioned or you can connect each row to the adjacent rows via elastic straps. Here is a video posted by DasHHat who did this.

Although, if you are doing a foam build then you can just glue all the parts together and you will still have some flexibility.

I used the Kotobukiya statue pics and trailer clips to develop the version 1 files. It was made completely free handed. Now I am redoing the model using the hi-res side/front view pics as a guide which allows me to get a much more accurate shape.

I will not be making changes to the version 1 files. I am correcting these issues in the version 2 files. Although, it recently occurred to me that some of you might not have read some of the instructions that were posted earlier in this thread. I made the biceps so that it is symmetrical. This is great for someone that wants to make one part and cast it to have one for each side. If you are just building it to wear then you will need to cut out a chunk on the inside of the biceps at the top (see Robo3687's Mk IV/VI biceps for example). This will allow you to pull the biceps up more so that the bottom of the biceps is not interfering with your elbow articulation quite so much. I still think that the front of the biceps goes down a little to far though and this will be corrected in the version 2 files.

What does PM mean? I downloaded your new files and i want to use them, but you said now we need a password. How do I PM you. ._.

PM = personal message. It is the same as any other forum out there. There are a few different ways you can send a PM. You can click on my name to the left and select send personal message from the drop down menu. You can also visit my profile and click on the contact info tab and send a PM that way.

Re: Darkside501st's Iron Man Mk VII pepakura files **New note in VIP section**

Hey Darkside, I'm about to start work on my first pep Iron Man suit. Love yours you've done an amazing job with it! Thinking about either the Mk VI or Mk VII, was wondering if we could talk, maybe i could ask you a few questions about how you did yours and about your files and if i could use them as a starting template. I don't want to use anyone's exact files, because i'd like to build a custom version of one of those Mk's but am looking for a good starting point.
