Darkside501st's Iron Man Mk VII pepakura files - Password in First Post

Re: Darkside501st's Iron Man Mk VII pepakura files - New Pics pg 100!!

it look's like your missing part of the bicep... that missing part goes on the outside, the elbow goes in the middle and the upper forearm (the top left part) goes on the inside... and to connect them you could use Chicago screws like Stealth mentions in one of his tutorials... hope that helps

I looked in his files and those round extentions where the bicept connects to the lower forearm are nowhere to be found. Do i just randomly cut some foam to fit there that looks similar to the piece im missing or is there an adjusted foam file. Seems to be a few problems with the foam pepakura provided. First the chest and now the bicept. Im concernd on what next. Oh and is there supposed to be foam support system that goes under the upper torso armor? I know on the MK3 there is but theres nothing for the MK7.

if you zoom out in the 2D window you should be able to find the parts you are looking for, in his bicep file other then that I don't know what to tell you

I don't think there is one specifically made for the mark VII but you should be able to modify the one made for the mark III to fit the mark VII... (I think)

You need to use Robo3687's brace file. It is for the Mk IV/VI.

Re: Darkside501st's Iron Man Mk VII pepakura files - New Pics pg 100!!

I've just gotten started with pep and I have a few questions. I built the practice helmet and when I was doing it I put glue on the outside where the numbers came together so that it would hold before I glued the backside. Will this cause problems having glue on the outside when I go to resin and bondo? Also I am using a low heat glue gun. I've seen that a lot of people use high heat. But I find that with the low heat glue I can almost work with it straight out of the gun, and it holds in seconds. Has anyone used low heat glue and it causes problems later?

There are lots of tutorials, but I will tell you to score the fold lines. And when I have to fold a tab up instead of down, I bedn it down a little first, then up. It makes it easier, since you are working against the score line. But go to youtube and find theherotutorials. HE is the man! He has posted tutorials for everything you could want to do. Good luck!
can any one tell how to fold the paper so minutely and with precisely i know that it is a silly question but please help as these is my first project

Re: Darkside501st's Iron Man Mk VII pepakura files - New Pics pg 100!!

So I just started my MkVII pep build. Started with the tester helmet.
I used .95 and Idk if its too big. I know that the final helmet will be put on by removing the rear, but the tester, Im able to slip it on without having to remove the rear piece. The hole does look much bigger than the final helmet, but just making sure I got the size right, before moving to the actual helmet.
I added 1cm on each side because I will be rondoing then fiberglassing.
What worries me, is that I need to actually pull the tester out a bit to tuck my ears in, idk if that means it will be too small once ridged, but other than that, seems to be the right fit.

Here is a picture

[edit]

Just as a feared. I measured the final helmet at .95 like the tester. And seems the opening across is only 5" while my measured head is about 6". I would like to not have to cut the bottom, since ill have to change the back also. But seems like if I make it bigger, it will be too big.

Actually, to be exact. it's a bit under 5"
My head measured around the ears is around 22.5"

What ever happens you wont be able to get your head from the bottom. You will either have to cut the back or the front of the helmet.

Yeah I will be removing the back to get my head in it. But since I cant use the measuring tool for the actual helmet, I have to go by the support on the bottom. Since I know that the support on the bottom is 4.825" and my head is around 7" (including the 2cm extra for rondo and fiberglass) that means the widest part of the helmet (the ear area) has to extend from the bottom of around 1" on both sides. and it doesnt seem like enough in pep viewer, even if I cut hole in the ear area.
But the test helmet seems the right size and any bigger, will be too big on my body.

What do you guys think? I would just build it and see, but if possible, I would just like to build it once. haha

[edit]
Ohhh I see what I typed was confusing! sorry! when I said, I dont want to cut the bottom, I meant the part that goes inwards towards the neck. the part that the bottom support I marked is attached to. But I will be cutting the bottom section to fit my head in the helmet.

They would probably work.

I don't think they will, if you import the MK 6 brace into the MK 4 file (in Designer), you'll notice the edges where the supports attach to the MK 6 brace don't line up with the MK 4's edges.

Is there a file to use for the Mk 4 or are you on your own?
