Dark Knight Rises

I gotta agree with no pain = "super" strength in real life. Look at guys whacked out on drugs who end up needed 4 or 5 cops just to bring them down. When you're natural safeguards are gone, the human body can do amazing things. Sure, being painless doesn't make you any less susceptible to physical damage, but match up being painless with someone who is an expert fighter, has high intelligence (knowing what NOT to do to get too injured), and I'd say you've got a pretty formidable foe. Combine that with the fact that he's fighting a guy who doesn't kill (unless the most dire situation).

I have to agree with you on that. There are many characters already that have these types of quality. One of them was one of the villains of the James Bond film The World is Not Enough (having no ability to feel pain, he is able to take a lot of injuries without any thought of it). Another is John Rambo, who is a Green Beret, who were trained to ignore pain (a good scene that shows this is when he stitches up his own arm in the first First Blood movie). The character of Kick-Ass in the film adaptation of the comic (I don't know if its in the comic itself), but after being beaten up and then hit by a car, he ends up with permanent nerve damage gaining the ability to endure pain.

Bane doesn't need a mcguffin just to please comic fans and that is exactly why he won't have venom. Venom is to Bane as perma-clown is to Joker. Doesn't really matter in the end because thematically, it is a buff guy with a high IQ.

Just to clarify, a mcguffin is an item that the characters are in search of that has no bearing on the story beyond being an item for them to all want (ie The Maltese Falcon or the suitcase from "Pulp Fiction."). Venom isn't a mcguffin any more than spinach is a mcguffin in Popeye cartoons.

We've already seen Scarecrow's fear toxin, so venom doesn't feel like a stretch to me so long as it doesn't make Bane "Hulk out."

Oh yeah. Damn high school english is lost to me.

Then that guy used the word wrong. Still, do people really expect to see some weird transformation scene ala batman and robin in a Nolan film?

If Bane ever looks drastically different than what we've already seen, surely they would have put a quick shot in the trailer or at least would have alluded to it. From what we know, Nolan has found a clever "real world" explanation for this character, and I'm sure will leave it at that.

What I am most curious to find out is: Is Bane working with the league of shadows? Do they start together then turn against each other? Is Bane just a puppet like Scarecrow was? Hmmm...

I feel like Bane has the capacity to be a leader. Like Ras. Possibly trained by Ras to be the same kind of accomplice as Bruce was intended to be.

I hope not, it wouldn't fit with the realistic vibe of the films. Something that is a subtle effect if anything would work for me, but nothing drastic.

After watching Tom Hardy in Warrior, i have no doubt his acting ability and intimidating auror will make Bane a force to be reckoned with. I know some are saying he is not big enough to play Bane, after watching the trailer i feel his size wont matter.

Quoted for truth.

I agree that the trailer was not that great but I hope it isn't scaring people off. I think this movie will be great. Trailers are just promotional devices and this one was just not very effective.

Its great because we know Nolan wont disappoint us. As far as I'm concerned, the less we see in the trailer, the better. As long as its enough to get us hyped. And I am. I thought Batman Begins was going to suck based on the trailer I saw. But with this one, I know enough to trust the people behind it.
