Dark Knight Rises

After seeing the prologue, I immediately looked over to the people I saw it with and said, "well - what do you think of Bane's voice?" I knew right away a LOT of people would have a problem with it. They were on the fence, but me, I love it. I think it's different, and it's nothing I expected it to be. Sounds like an old decrepit German doctor speaking through a voice box, that somehow lost his accent. Only way I can describe it.

I love it too. Tired of hearing all of the complaints against him. Probably the same people who complained about Heath Ledger not being perma-clown. He's going to be scary as hell.

And the complaints about Heath changed after people saw the film as his performance was out of this world! And he was new side the joker that we've never seen!

Hopefully Hardy's performance will be the same with Bane

I dont think comparing the Dark Knight Joker to this ones Bane is any way a fitting example. The trick to the Joker is watch the movie with him as the good guy and it works. He isnt trying to take over to rule but in a sick way change and unite people. Bane is just out to destroy.

We're not comparing them thematically, we are comparing the public opinions of them. The joker received just as much criticism early on as Bane is getting. Now, Heath's performance is known as THE Joker.

The thing is that with the other villains, Nolan used a good amount of artistic license, but when comparing Bane to the original character... its almost the same in name only. He's definitely the biggest "stretch" so far. Which is not at all a bad thing. But it leaves a much wider gap for people to criticize who are fans of the original.

I am a gigantic Batman comic fan. I have almost the entire first volume of Detective Comics (mostly in single issues, earlier ones in trades), and I own a LOT of random Batman comic and movie merchandise. I like the comic version of Bane, and I like the TDKR version. There is actually a pretty significant connection between both. The only thing changed is his corny (albeit cool) origin and his mask.

Joker was WAY more of a stretch - taking a permanently disfigured man with bleach white skin and green hair who got his look from falling into a tank of chemicals - to a guy with cuts on his mouth with makeup. There were huge changes to both characters, but Bane's character is still quite close to the comic version.

Yeah, I guess I'm thinking of it in more visual terms. And it may be because we got so saturated with TDK Joker - its hard NOT to picture that as the "iconic" Joker nowadays. I just look at Bane and think "this isn't the flesh-colored hulk with the mexican wrestling mask I know from the comics". I'm glad they changed his look for this movie though. But if I had just seen an image of this character without knowing the context, I probably wouldnt have guessed who it was supposed to be.

I still dont think we've yet seen a pic of bane under the influence of venom. I still believe Nolan has a big surprise for us. Might not be much but I do believe bane will suck some venom and bulk up a bit. or maybe not.. :(

No venom this time around. Venom is substituted for the concept of anesthetic. Super strength from painlessness and ruthless fighting style.

Gonna be so sad this time next year, when both of these stories have been concluded *sniff* :(

Oh shhhhiiiiiiiiiiii-------

I had no idea Breaking Bad would be finished next year. I'm pretty behind as of right now. I am speechless!! Dangit!!

Yep, they're going for an extended, 16 episode, final season. Good move if you ask me.

see this doesnt work for me for a few reasons..

If you can't feel then you'd get messed up pretty quickly, broken bones snapped tendons and the likes. Is Nolan afraid of using Mcguffins? cause I still feel bane needs a Mcguffin in the form of venom.

just watched WARRIOR with Tom Hardy I thoroughly enjoyed it....1st movie I saw with Hardy knowing who he is and really enjoyed his role....he will do a great job with Bane....

You're saying "venom" would prevent broken bones? See, it does work, because it is the real life version of super strength. Try fighting someone who can't feel pain and doesn't notice you've broken their rib. See how long you last.

Bane doesn't need a mcguffin just to please comic fans and that is exactly why he won't have venom. Venom is to Bane as perma-clown is to Joker. Doesn't really matter in the end because thematically, it is a buff guy with a high IQ.
