Howdy, folks!!

So, I've got my blaster thread, my lightsaber thread, and I know there are a couple Macrobinocular threads out there, as well, but from now on I'll be putting all my other projects here, that aren't gun or laser sword related.

To start off, I've been slowly working on a Vibro-Axe. It's not the most accurate thing, and I've modeled and printed some of the parts myself.

I always regretted not building one of these all those years ago, when Boba Debt did his "Active Project", so several months ago, I began collecting reference and parts for this.

Got myself a Supermax, Soft-Flow Soaker, toy Han blaster and hose adaptor, and some 1" OD PVC pipe.

Yesterday I modeled some parts, and today I printed them! Here's a few pics. These first few were taken several months ago, before I had a more accurate hose adaptor. I cut too much material away from the Han blaster part, so I'll add some styrene to the sides a little later on down the road.

And these pics are from today.

.

The giant Phillips screw was a fun one to model, it's two pieces, and I shaped the curved bottom by hand, then it's screwed into the hairdryer and the pipe, and the cap pops into that.

The "Vader Rod" is printed parts assembled on a brass tube, and the other "plumbing" parts are assembled on the usual chopped-up air canisters and some other bits of metal tubing.

I'll need to tackle the blade, soon, and I'm not sure about the electrical cord. I've been looking at corrugated pond tubing and the like, but I'm not totally sure what I'm gonna use, yet.

I know it's all been discussed in the past, it's just been so long, I'm not sure what info is accurate, anymore, and I don't recall the "grip" areas being nailed down definitively. Anyone know?

Anyhow, more progress as I get the time to work on this one, and thanks for looking!

man your weathering skills are really something. Do you drag a dry brush or sand away silver over black to get that scuffed look?

Hehe, thanks. It's honestly a throwaway paint job, that's developed organically over time. I started with some matte silver, and as I added parts I used a different silver, matte nickel I think.

Then I knocked some of it back with some flat black for shading, and I've periodically (while paint is drying, or mostly dry) used Scotchbrite pads and various scraps of sandpaper arbitrarily over the whole thing. Nothing was really PLANNED, or SUPER deliberate, if you know what I mean.

I hadn't intended that this be the final paint job, at all (really just wanted some uniformity rather than the base material colors), but you're right, it DOES look pretty good! I reckon I'll just continue letting this thing develop organically as I add parts.

Here's some new pics of the whole thing outside.

I'm gonna tweak my models of the Amphenol connector, since basically I completely forgot that part had been identified! I remember making a mental note when I first read about it, and that mental note obviously melted away into oblivion, to make room for some other ridiculous information.

I find my mind doing that more and more often, and I don't like it! Guess I need to write things down more. For instance, Tom, I completely forgot about offering to help you find some scopes!

Anyway, here's the newest pics...

Looks sweet Dann, I have collected a few of the parts your build is motivation to give the build a go.... one day, congrats on the build (y)

WOW....look at this.
I am impressed by the quality and speed of your builds, wish I had the time for it myself :/

May I ask you about the exact length and O.D. of the tubing you used to assemble the parts onto?

Thanks, y'all!!

Markus, it's a 5 foot length of 3/4" PVC pipe, (the 3/4" is the ID) the OD of the pipe is just over 1".

At the moment, I have a few lengths of 3/4" aluminum tubing inside the PVC, for a little more heft, and a little less wobble.

Lookin' good! What did you use for the tip? Was the real part ever ID'd? I've had the Supermax and bubblers for years, but never started on it.

For the Danco tip, I used a, uh, Danco tip. Heh.

I'm pretty sure they can still be found on eBay, if you look hard enough.

In other news, I've been working on Trooper Trent's sweet Training Remote kit, and I gotta say, it's one of the EASIEST model kits I've ever had the pleasure of putting together!

The floaty part is what REALLY sold me on this. Otherwise, it's never been a prop that's been at the forefront, for me, personally. I can say I've quickly grown to love it.

Trent's instructions could NOT be more thorough, inclusive and easy to understand. It's an extremely well thought out kit.

Here's some progress shots. I'm moving real quick and dirty with this one, because Trent's instructions convinced me to, what with all the Bob Ross, "happy mistakes" talk. Not worried about under-puttied holes, super glue seepage, etc. I will say I was careful plotting all the holes, though.

I'm actually a bit further along than these show. All I've got left is weathering, really. Well, and just a handful of parts left to attach. Anyway, I'll get some more pics up tomorrow.

Thanks folks!

Still need to weather, add a few more parts and the diffusers.

Then I'm gonna try doing the base up like the chess table using aluminum tape.
