Re: DancinFools Iron Man Mark III Pep File Development

Hello everyone, I have been pepping this armor and I am getting somewhat close to completion and I was wondering if someone could post pics of all the attachment points for this armor and also what you use to attach the pieces, I.E. buckles, rivets, velcro or whatever. Any help would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks for all amazing advice and help everyone has posted!!

Re: DancinFools Iron Man Mark III Pep File Development

Hey DF - know you're busy, but will you be doing the gloves, feet and final tweaks at some point?

Re: DancinFools Iron Man Mark III Pep File Development

Those look incredible! Any chance of a PDF export for mac users? Great great work!

Would love to see this as well, specifically for the helmet and neck piece, if anyone is up for it! TIA!

Re: DancinFools Iron Man Mark III Pep File Development

I took CP66's unfold and made it a little easier to build

These are usually what files I use end up looking like after I mod them.
If you can get what I did here, it should make for a much faster build

Props to CP66 for the initial unfold and DF's of course for the great files.

This is the main section, I'll post the other parts tonight after work.

This is at the suit's default scale.

Hey Stealth, did you end up posting the other part of the MKIII calf? I really like your simpler modded file - they're fun and super quick to work with

Re: DancinFools Iron Man Mark III Pep File Development

Hey stealth have you completed the other part of the calf? I have everything built and i just need that to finish my legs. Also did anyone ever make an unfold for the thigh additions? I can freehand those if i have to buit i was just wondering.

Thanks to everyone in this thred that made this possible, I am loving my mk3. The first costume I have ever made myself. Thanks.

Re: DancinFools Iron Man Mark III Pep File Development

Hey DF and DF builders,
First of, thanks DF for the work you did on those files, pretty amazing! That said, you convinced me to try to start my own build and now, I put all projects aside and can't stop cutting and gluing!

That said, those new calves are quite a pain in the ass to build! :) Although, from what I saw in Surreal Studios thread, they're quite a sight when built .. again, I'll see what mine looks like! :)

Question: when having multiple parts like the calves, let's say I want to keep them all separate, how do you go about applying the first outer polyester/resin/epox? Do you stick them all together with tape and then resin over everything to help the fitting? I figured as much since one by one, they don't fit that perfectly together due to paper warp or glue error margins that eventually end up with small diff in the bending of the part.

Also, as a FYI .. I'm 6'3 about 190. I found that I needed the cod piece to be scaled by 10% and even there, I'm gonna have to cut it up on the side, on the grooved lines to get in! Tony has a real small arse! ;) Also due to my longer legs, I scaled the legs by about 8% .. hopefully, that'll cover the gaps between the parts! ;)

Re: DancinFools Iron Man Mark III Pep File Development

Yes tape or glue all your parts together and slice it all up after your done the hardening. I usually leave it all together until I am about 90% done then the shapes all fit proper. As far as scaling you'll have to watch when you do the legs and arms as the width goes up as well as the length so you may have to trim it down or section it at points to be able to fit your size. The COD would be best cast it rubber IMO which is what the original COD and abs were cast in. ;)

Re: DancinFools Iron Man Mark III Pep File Development

Thanks Finhead,
You mean 90% done with the final bondo stages right?

Yeah, I noticed the legs scaled on all 3 axis .. I've never fiberglassed anything yet .. so that will be my first experience .. so I wasn't too sure about keeping the 100% scale then adding on the general height here and there. I'm pretty handy but this is a whole new world for me! So I'll take it one step at a time :)

Anyway, even the calf, at 108%, I have difficulty fitting my leg in there as it's pretty curvy and unfortunately, my bones don't bend that much to try to fit in! :D lol
