DAN LAWS: Snowtrooper and Snowtrooper Commander.

Well after a long time i finally got some time to sitt down with the Dan Laws Snowtrooper and Commander.

The kits i have now are good. The first sets came in different tones of white abs but Dan managed to replace these parts and provide them all in same color. The turn arround time was far longer, but defiantly worth the wait because these are just beutifull kits. Sharp details and solid abs plastic. Also the small details, buttons and decals all great.

All this was done in under a day.

Things to do:
Make harnes system
Add details on back of snowcommander backpack.
Paint the canister and other details with grey paint.
Add PVC to the face of snowtrooper.

Missing parts: Looking forward to hear from Dan that these are under way

2x shoulder rims/straps.
1x Circle disc metalic painted for the stomac piece.
2x set withStickers? IIIIIIIIII IIIIIIIIII For the back of the armor (Commander.) (complete sett of stickers for the back)
Set with stickers front of the commander abdominal.
Stickers for the broad grey and thin red line on top of backpack.
Pattern for PVC to mask.

Need to get/ buy:
Disc for helmet to snowcommander.
Gloves.
Blaster commander.
holster commander.

Softparts:
Duster and pouched proffesionally tailored.

Adjustment and fitting:
I will not assemble the parts untill i got the softparts.
This way i can atach the shoulders and parts on top of the clothing.


OVERALL THIS IS GREAT QUALITY AND ACCURACY!!! LOVE IT!!

Excellent TMP!! I too am currently working on a Laws Snowtrooper. At the time I bought it, some 2-3 years ago, Dan only made it in styrene. I'm re-enforcing the armor with a single layer of fiberglass on the inside of each peice. It'll give a lifetime of worry free durability with minimal added weight. I'm used to ABS Trooper armor having a tad more strength and needed to feel that strength for a sense of security against breakage, enter fiberglass.

Yours looks fantastic and the Commander is just stunning! Be sure and update as you move along towards completion:thumbsup

Dan's stuff is great, one of the better sets out there. My only quibble is he still insists on leaving the trim around the edge of the helmet shroud. :unsure

Well, i am also very satisfied with what we got.
We started off by ordering 8 sets of Snowtrooper, all had to come from same plastic source and all look alike. I think we ended up with 10-12 snowtrooper kits that we are together building in Nordic Garrison.

We are prepearing for Finse in 2010 Celebration of the 30th year since Star Wars ESB was shown. They played the winter scene in finse and we are over 67 people signed up for the event. We have booked all the rooms and hotells up there.

We plan to go all uniform in our garrison. All kits from Dan Laws, All with similar fabric and look. It will be a great May month in Norway in 2010

Hopefulle aprox 40 people in snowtrooper costumes at Finse in the snow

There both wonderful, but the Commander always stops me dead in my tracks, Dans gear is just stunning, and for a long time ive been putting an order in, and i always get distracted on other things being a studio scale guy, but my god, those pics are enough to get anybody in costuming, fantastic!

How do they compare to the Moncal armor?

They're more or less equivalent. Moncal has a more accurate cod and no helmet trim. Various parts are bigger or smaller on one set over the other. In general the Laws kit is the larger of the two though not by much.

The Dan Laws suits, are among the most accurate out there 4 sure.
I´m waiting for he´s storm/sandtrooper suits to come.
I did not know there was so many difference, in the two rank snowtroopers.
I have all ways only been looking at the face plate/hard/soft, and arm parts.
I´m only a ANH storm/sandtrooper fan, but your snowie here are freaking cool.

What people.. Its only going to be troopers up there since we will get all the beds availible :love But yea i am sure its going to be a cool event.

If anyone in Lucas se this please know that the Nordic Garrison whould love to work with Lucas for promotional event. Think about it, troopers at finse in Norway at same hotell as they filmed from in the snow at HOTH on the 30th aniversary it whould be something to promote and make a featuret of.
