Daily Prophets

I were really, really lucky with the references I find.:)
I think I'll try to draw the woodcuts too.

And about the Prophet If I buy, i'd love the complete version of it.:)

For myself I shall print the front cover on acid free paper and frame it in a dark mount with an appropriate label and screen grabs from the film. If people are planning to frame it, would they want the back page as well (and the inside)?

Any thoughts?

While I would like a complete Prophet as close to the screen-used version, I balk at the longevity of newsprint. I'm leaning toward the fine-art print route. Maybe just the outside spread (fron/back covers). A giclee printer would be ideal. It's high-quality, archival inkjet. Lasts for a lifetime and looks amazing.

This is pretty much what I'm planning to do with mine. I have several newspaper clippings from the last few years which have been kept in a box. Not only does exposure to light fade the paper but exposure to air makes it increasingly brittle.

Anyone from England will tell you; "The only thing yesterday's newspaper is good for is wrapping your fish and chips!" :lol

Well, I'll be working on one of the Sirius Black Prophets. But i'll really need help. I don't have none reference form that Prophet. So, please hope you all help me with this.:thumbsup

Here are some pics:

I already have quite a bit of this one done. I shall post a picture this weekend. I found the fonts whilst researching the Philosopher's Stone DP.

It's ages since I looked at the Azkaban cover and I have it in three separate files. I have most of the text worked out but it needs to be formatted to fit the layout. This is just the blank layout as far as I got previously.

I shall get back to this one when I have finished the perishing squiggles on the cover of the Philosopher's Stone cover!

Here my Progress:

I get some screencaps in any Harry Potter fan sites to work.
Please Kevin, could you help me with the capitals and the logo?:rolleyes:confused

The logo is the same one usedin the first film. There are excellent close-ups of it as Harry is reading. I couldn't find the swirls anywhere so I had to draw them from scratch.

The capitals took me weeks to find. They are Dover clip art. I had to buy five different books before I found them.

That's the one off the Warner Brothers Potter website isn't it?

It's very similar to the real artwork on the prop. I found it a really handy guide when drawing my version in areas where the screen grabs were a little vague (because the lines on the real logo are much thinner in places than on the web image).

That's much-appreciated dedication to getting it right!

And while digging out the pieces of my Azkaban DP I found this one I started ages ago. I've added my finished banner to the top. The problem with this one is that I don't have any clear reference for what appears below the fold of the page. There appears to be a large illuminated capital I, but that's all I can be sure of.

Thanks!!!!:)
Kevin, from what books are the Prisoner capitals?
It is possible to interpret his reluctance to formulate complete responses to your many questions in recent posts as quiet encouragement to strike out and do some research of your own. You'll learn so much more--like how the prop makers think, and where they tend to turn for paper prop elements (think cheap and fast)--that will pay dividends in future projects.
