Dagger of Time from Prince of Persia - Sands of Time

resurrecting this thread a bit to see if anyone got the UC one and to see some pics of it. Had one on order but had to cancel due to something coming up.

Watched the movie again recently and got me into wanting to get a version of it to mess with, so since halloween is upon us there was a "costume" version that I went with. Still made of plastic but at least it has a pointy tip and it's 14" long versus the 12" toy (whoa a whole 2") :unsure

anyway when looking at the one I ordered I found this one from the game

Amazon.com: Prince Of Persia Dagger: Sports & Outdoors

Best thing is, it's only $30. though where the chamber would be to hold the sand the space is empty, for what it is it ain't bad IMO.

:eek I think I just peed a little. I need that game version one. OK, ordered it.

Never bought the UD one. It looks really nice, but the movie was so bad I couldn't bring myself to spend the money. now that game dagger is a totally different story. The game was one of the best ever IMO and the dagger is cheaper to boot. Win-win.

:lol

nice you'll have to let me know how it is when you get it. I just got the other one for something to mess around with since I'm in a POP kinda mood right now and don't have alot of money to play with at the moment.

Same here. I was so excited to add this to my collection untill I saw the movie. I was suprised just how bad it was! Now I have zero intrest in owning this. Oh well...

Demonfire: You mentioned the movie version you got was the correct size and shape but made of plastic and less expensive, where did you get that one?

I got mine off ebay, but this is the same thing (Amazon.com: Prince of Persia - Dagger of Time Child: Clothing). I tried looking locally for it pretty much where ever has costumes, since it's supposed to be an extra for the prince dastan costume thats out. Sadly no spirit of halloween around me yet or not at all this year. haven't recieved it yet, it was just shipped out today but should get it early next week. Depending on how it is I may keep it and get the game one, but if it ends up being crap it's going back and I'll get the game one for sure.

Oh, I figured that was just the same one sold in stores. I'm going to go check out my local Spirit store today. If the gauntlet/adult costume has plastic pieces for all the brass/gold bits on the armor, I might buy them just to rip apart and repaint before making the armor from leather.

That gold looks very vacuum metalized. Which is weird because it doesn't look like they did the same for the blade. Maybe a repaint would improve it?

also the thing with it is the blade is very thick, pretty much the same size as the hilt if not bigger. I already messaged the guy I bought it from and I'm returning it. Gonna go ahead with the game one that I posted, not right away but will jump on it soon.

I looked on the other side also that have a logo painted on the other side which you could probably scratch off or paint over but I'm not gonna bother with it.

I got a delivery slip in my mail box today, it's one of three things, the dagger being one. If it's the dagger I'll take some pics.

Got it, here's a picture of it in its new home:

It's not the NICEST piece ever, but it's worth way more than it cost.

very cool. Yea I realize that the actual blade part isn't exact but for a game replica it's very good. Now I can't see in your picture but on the stand does it have the POP logo like it did in the picture? Also does the handle seem very solid or is it kinda cheap like?

Yea, the logo is there. The handle looks to be one solid cast piece of metal. I haven't done any stress tests, but it seems solid to me. I just need to figure out how to make a sand tank now. Maybe paint over the blue parts with glow in the dark blue as well.

OK, sorry for the double post. I've been thinking about it and decided that I want to modify this game dagger to be more accurate. The problem is, there aren't really any great pictures of it coming up in Google image search. There are a couple that are a decent size, but they've got black backgrounds and I can't really tell what's going on in the blade area. So far my list of mods includes:

Make a sand tank in the handle and fill it with sand
Possibly find a way to light that sand
Bend the forward pointing guard into that curvier shape (can anybody tell what kind of metal this is and whether or not it could be bent with or without heating it up?)
Sand the "CHINA" marking off the blade and smooth out the indentations of the crescent moon, curved line, and dots, leaving only the "life bar" line and curve
Etch new markings for the smaller dots and correctly sized circle depression, which will have a dome shape placed in it with the correct crescent moon
Reshape the top of the blade so that it runs straight into the extended hilt section instead of curving closer to the outside edge
Bevel the back side of the blade
Use glow in the dark blue and yellow paint for the markings on the blade

And that's as far as I can get with the available photo reference. I can tell that there are two spiked pieces on the back and front of the blade that appear to be glowing blue, but I can't see how they're set in, or if there's anything in that cut out section at the base of the blade. Can anybody help me out?

Thanks, I hadn't seen that white background one before. So I guess now that I've got what's probably the best visual reference of the dagger it's time to start supposing. What do you suppose those two pointy blue things are? Glass? Metal? Also, how do you think the blade is probably held in the handle? I'm no expert on swords, functional or otherwise. If it's just glue, I'd love to separate the two for some more intense modding. I', thinking I can fill those cut out gaps with some thinner brushed stainless, I might even still have some laying around. Not worth trying to make it blend in, but I can probably make it look like a narrower section that's supposed to be there. I might bring the dagger in to a local metal shop and ask the guy I know there his opinion of the handle's malleability.
