Hi RPF,
This is my first time posting up something I'm doing so be nice please.
Since my other thread didn't go very well I decided to go with another option which is to use PVC pipe for the gloves.
I used this template for my cut outs and as you can see below I've cut out the insides and used the template like a negative and just used a permanent marker on the inside.
Here's 1 whole hand (the other is on the other side of the pipe.
I've also used a large 90degree angle PVC pipe for the hands. It was by fluke but it fits my hand quite well and the location of the cut gives a nice rounding on my pointer and middle knuckles before it slides off around the other side of the hand.
And here's the pipe split in 2 (showing both hands' fingers) and the back of the hands cut out.
I've also received a helmet from (who I believe is) a respectable prop maker which is currently in the works.
Before I identify who it was I wanted to make sure it was ok with them to say it was from them because there were some issues with the cast which we're working through. If any of you have ideas on how to fix the following problems that would be great!.
There are some obvious distortions which has and will cause problems down the track, these range from (in my head) easy to quite awkward to fix.
1. Dents and nooks on the ear cups
2. Distortion at the back of the helmet
3. One side of the helmet seems to have "melted" - I don't actually know what to do here...
4. The Chin and the Visor Ridge have both distorted - this one I'm kinda scared to tackle since it's at the front of the mask. Suggestions would be much appreciated.
Also as a side note, as you can see in the below picture the helmet doesn't sit on a table flat (the table is angled in the photo but IRL it's flat and the helmet is angled.
As I said, I don't want to mention who it is without their permission because this isn't a name&shame exercise. I followed the WIP and thought it was a wonderful piece of art and out of respect I don't want anyone doubting their abilities.
I'm guessing bondo/body fill and sand to solve everything but it's the front I'm worried about.
Also I don't think I can wire up lights before Halloween so that will have to wait until later.
I would also like advice on how to cut out the visor section of the helmet (what tools/techniques) because I don't want to stuff it up.
Thanks for reading! Sorry if the images are huge! I edited them in photobucket so they should've shrunk.
Jay
