Cyberman in FOAM!!! - WITH PATTERNS!!

Hiya wondersquid 
I have just downloaded your patterns and look forward to doing some constructing. One question please, how close to the edges are your patterns, as I am
located in Australia and we do not have the exact same paper sizes that you do. The closest one to your tabloid is our A3 which is 11.7" x 16.5". Would I be able to print out on this size without losing too much? Or do I have to go up a size?

Just wanted to say a massive thank you to Wondersquid and his designs. I built this suit for the 50th anniversary of Doctor Who and wore it to a cinema screening near me and it was a huge hit!
I changed a couple of the sizes of things from the patterns (mainly the gauntlets) and there are definitely things I would improve upon if I built it again (and yes I know the Cybus logo is not on correctly) but all in all i'm very happy with the way it turned out!
Built out of the interlocking foam flooring mats, covered in PVA (2 coats) then in Smooth cast 300 (3 coats) for a solid plastic finish. Under suit was created from a handmade black onesie covered in foam pipes, detailed then painted with liquid latex for colour and flexibility. Helmet was a voice changer toy repainted, did not get time to create the back half but rewired the electronics to a portable voice amplifier strapped to my chest so i could talk to people.
The Cyberman was fully built by me and the Weeping Angel was a joint effort between myself and a friend (who is wearing it). Run out of time to properly do the mask and wig join on the Angel though, but it still worked.

There were some issues, but things should be ironed out by now.
Hiya E, Unfortunately the patterns do get really close to several edges because some of the patterns need to be taped together before tracing. Can you go to a copy shop or print shop to get them printed proper for you? You probably will be fine with some pages, but lose a few things on others. I guess print them and compare with the PDF to see if you need add more in certain areas.

thanks for the template mate. got mine done and ready for a convention in 4 days. Like jerryhorn, i too go to the aged rust look. easier to hide the nasty uneven seems with darker colors :lol . I gonna make another one and instead of painting, it will be covered with pvc vinyl. and this time, i will take my sweet time doing it

Hi there! I just found your templates and had to download them straight away. Your Cyberman suit is beautifully done! This will be my first ever foam costume build and I hope my final outcome will look at least as half as good as yours. Just a question or two though, does anyone have any advice on how to scale the templates to fit my height of around 5ft? And what would be the best method of cutting and gluing the foam in such a way that it's cleanly lined as possible?

i just print it as is on A3 and scale if afterwards (cut and glue to my size). cutting using those blade knifes and prepare tons of new blades. foam eat blades for breakfast, lunch and dinner. XD . unlike other ppl here, i dont use hot glue. its too messy for my taste. i use contact glue. works better and stronger bond than hot glue.

Thanks for the advice Shiroppi! I think I've worked out the scaling for everything aside from the helmet, looks like I'll have to print every page a different size. Hopefully I have plenty of blades xD
I have all purpose adhesive from B&Q as I couldn't find contact or barge glue. Will that do the trick or will I need something better?

Amazing !! Very Very Cool ........ I was just telling my dad today that the anti-fatigue mats we stand on in the shop (that I purchased from Harbor Freight) would make a cool IronMan/Robot costume.

Despite not posting since around July/August I've still been working on my cyberman. Only very slowly with little progress until November-now.
Just in time for Gallifrey One I've finally finished! The undersuit and electronics I'll add later when there's time and funds

Since mine was never built in foam, I was wondering how many are doing Wondersquid patters and how many are using JFCustom's unfold? I am trying to see the differences in builds and some images look a little different so wanted to get ideas if people are using different templates and/or freehand work?
Hopefully I can run into some of you at conventions in the US. I try to attend cons on the East Coast and Chicago and would like to meet other Cybermen and do some photos. (I normally have my scout as in my avatar, but can bring the Cyberleader if I have room in my truck)
