Scouser, the under suit didn't work quite as planned. Yes I did use a loose weave cotton fabric which should breathe plenty. BUT I covered it in plasti-dip to seal the hoses I put on and as such, it's probably just as hot as your latex idea. The best of both worlds might be to make a sheet of tubes on thin fabric and plasti-dip, then cut them out and either glue or sew to a pair of shorts, or pants as it were. Let me know how yours turns out, I love the creativity of everyone in the Cyber legion!

Sounds good, depending on what parts I have to work on this weekend and the weater, I may try starting on it. With fall quickly approaching, I want to get as much strictly outdoors work done as possible. Since I am not doing foam version, that equals about 95% of my work :unsure

Hi all. I found this forum though a google search. Awesome stuff. I joined just because I want to attempt the cybershade you posted. My wife is heading to the UK tomorrow (she'll be going to Cardiff to see the Doctor Who Experience... jealous!!!) so while she is gone I will attempt it. I have no prior experience with the foam so this will be all new to me. Hope to do you proud as your work is fantastic.

I am basically done with the outer pieces now WOOOOOOHOOOOOOOO!!!! (Waited a year to do that!) I still have some attachments and small things to do, but the pieces themselves are done and painted. I plan to add a thread here on RPF once I have everything done and even a video if I can get all my plans incorporated before the con.

So next on my list is the gloves and I am still wanting to use latex. I am going to aim for arm casts tomorrow and hope to get clay on the cast this week then do the latex next weekend. Like all plans I make, I am sure this will take 2 weeks not 1... but I am trying!

While the glove steps are drying (3 steps of dry times) I plan to work on the undersuit. I am going to try and make a suit using the cotton material and foam piping like you did. I have plenty of it and used it also for my latex panels. I am going to decide then if I want to use plasti-dip like you did or go with 1-2 coatings of latex since I won't have to paint it if I use the same batch I made for the gloves. I may not have enough for it all, so will think about it. Any tips on using the plasti-dip wondersquid? Thought about the shorts...but may stick to underarmor just because of the plastic and fiberglass cloth. I may have missed some thin needle pieces and they can hurt if they scratch me. At least clothing can help reduce the pain lol

PLEASE tell me you have the patterns saved for this. If so could you save them in a pdf so I could make a suit too. It would be totally awesome.

You know what you could do is borrow a scanner, set it to scan only an 8x11 area, and arrange your pieces accordingly. If it gets cut off you can mark where it got cut off and continue it on the next scan.

This way you don't have to worry about scaling and you can instantly upload it as opposed to manually taking photos.

Of course, you'd still have to include instructions, but it seems certain people get really antsy and would prefer to get the plans first before you release instructions on assembly.

Just a thought to consider, once I clear my projects list I might do a Cyberman :]

OK, here is my first post. I actually just found this thread and this forum. I've had the idea in the back of my mind to get into costuming for some time now and I'm getting serious about it now.

First off all, this build is great. Great job man. I'd love to see some finished pics if you have any.

I have a lot to learn but I am going to go slowly and do things one step at a time. First step is to learn all I can about foam building in general. Can anyone point me in the right direction for tips and tricks, actually even basic skills I'll need to work on to start building in foam?

Best tutorial I know of if Stealth's channel on You Tube. He has done Iron Man in foam and does a great job of explaining things.

As for the Cyberman, everybody so far that I know of has approached the suit differently. Mine is not foam, so I can't give you much info on that sorry... I just know that Stealth has been great at giving info and I love his vidoes for foam and fiberglass or plastic builds. I used his info for the foundation of my suit, but that is when I went off with my own method.

I recently found this thread. I'm going to give it a shot using your templates and reference shots of the finished work. This will be my first time building anything so wish me luck.

I figured this was small enough for me to get my feet wet and yet give me something sink my teeth into.
