Cutting an Ultracal 30 mold in half?

Has anyone had experience with cutting an Ultracal 30 mold in half and if so with what? I sculpted and molded a set of Dr. Doom closed greaves but there are now undercuts in the mold that would never allow a plaster cast to release. Would it kill a bandsaw blade or just gum it up? Its too tall of a mold for me to use my tile cutting saw so I was curious if anyone has had any luck. Thanks.

It will dull the blade, but a good industrial strength band saw should do the trick.

Thanks. I figured a lower speed setting on the bandsaw might do it. I just wasnt sure if the blade would hold up. I will post my results once I get them cut.

i have used a cutting wheel on a dremmel to cut one in half. Well, a couple cutting wheels. Make sure you cut keys instead of a straight line (AKA a zigzag line). helps when putting it back together.

Well I must say the test with the bandsaw was a success. It neither gummed or dulled the blade but went through the mold quite easily. I made slight turns while cutting it but not as large as I probably should have for reg keys but still the mold came out better than I had hoped. The parts form back together easily and clamps will keep it locked when I pour the positives.
