Custom Weapon Sheaths?

w00t. I finally got in touch with my friend's friend, and he willing to take the job. We're meeting tomorrow to go over specifics. :D I can hardly wait to get them.

Also, I just discovered Tritonworks which does some very lovely work, and they offer a plain, custom made, wooden core scabbard for just $80(..). Lots of nice options for customizing and embellishing, too.

I was putting off updating this thread again until I had something to actually show for my research, but since there's some interest in having this thing archived (thanks for reminding me, Junksaber.) I didn't want it to fall into oblivion completely.

After some research, we settled on $125 to cut and assemble all four scabbards from oak (amazing freakin' deal.. I thought he'd need that much just for materials.) - I'll probably slip him another $50 to handle the paint/stain for me. If fortune smiles, I'll have them by the end of October and can show off some pics. :D

Fortune hasn't smiled yet . . . . it's been a while since the last update on this project, but I visited my woodworker last night and he's at about 80% on the scabbards. They would' probably be done by now, but he got a new day job that had him pulling 18 hour days for while.

All that's left is smoothing out the fit for one of the rapiers, tapering the tips and applying the stain. We've decided to go with a rich mahogany to get a nice dark finish that still shows off the natural wood grain.

can't friggin' wait.... :D
