Acrylic Hypo Vials: DO NOT store them in your leather pouches!

I happened to pull out this medical pouch, to mess with the scanner.

When I pulled out the SDstudios Hybrid Hypo, to my horror I discovered that the vial had spontaneously cracked and leaked inside the pouch. The hypo was a recent purchase, from about a year ago.

If you have an SDStudios Hypo that you are storing inside a leather pouch, pull the vial out of the pouch, ASAP, if you haven’t done so already :(

Yikes sorry to hear that

I pulled my hypo out of the pouch years ago

Mine was not a Dymzo but the fluid evaporated

Woops. How did you clean the leather

Luckily, I inspected the leather and the blue fluid did not soak through. I’ll probably use Tide wipes to clean the interior of the hypo pocket.

I have yet to find a hypo vial that did not leak or allow the liquid to evaporate. I have also heard of them spontaneously “cracking” as this one did.

I intend only to use “empty” acrylic vials with my hypos, going forward.

I was able to purchase some empty vials from Steve. He came through like a champ. I won’t be using “liquid-filled” vials going forward.

The design of the original hypo vial is just a poor design by the Desilu prop shop, to begin with, and likely why none of the vials have survived with the original hypos still in existence.
