I ran into a few issues when making the hammer. The first was the difficulty in trimming pieces of Styrofoam.I tried glueing the pieces together and found that glue melts it and so does spray paint and permanent marker. Currently I am looking for glue that I can use to attach the handle and I founds that staining it with puff paint works so I will finish the hammer with more puff paint The handle was from an empty roll of cling wrap and the styrofoam came from packaging.

I wanted to have the discs on the chest pop out rather than lay flat so I got the idea of using mini Frisbee's. I have painted them with several layers and the halloween pictures are still slightly visible painted silver but I will continue adding layers until they can no longer be seen. I found these on ebay for under $5.

I used a spandex style sports shirt and cut the sleeves off. The cape was a sheet that I cut to size and sewed to the shoulders. Both items I found at a thrift store.

I will be following this thread closely. I am also working on a classic thor. Keep the updates coming.

Thanks!
I just added a cap to the end of the handle. It was a painted Gatorade cap that I cut a hole in and an elastic cord that is tied together on the other side.

I also added a few more coats of paint to the discs and have attached two of them to the shirt with super glue.

More updates!
I glued safety pins to the back of the discs so that they could attach and detach from the shirt.

I also received two sets of leather wrist bands from ebay which I put together for a somewhat classic Thor wristband look.

use Elmer's (PVA glue, white glue, wood glue) on the Styrofoam. put down 2-3 layers, lightly sanding between layers. this will then protect the foam from melting.

Sorry I haven't updated this sooner.

I just finished he cardboard cut outs on the helmet and have started some paper mache today.

Also I found a belt and belt buckle that work well together. I decided to leave the buckle as is and not try to add any wings to it.

Wow it has been a long time since I have updated this. I finished the costume in a good enough fashion for halloween but one of my chest discs fell off. I recently started adding new layers of paper mache to the helmet to shape it better. I am going to denver comic-con this year and have four other costumes I have been preparing so this one has kinda been on the back burner. 16271_10151938441234526_1266214195_n.jpg
