Custom suit build the Knarley Mofo Elder WIP

Cheers Tri_laser, it took me months to build up the courage to hack at it. I researched the best way and spoke to a few old faithful buddies on the lair and took the plunge. I deffo think it was worth it. As its deffo on the right path for the Celtic Elder I wanna create.

I need to add the LEDs and electrics to it as I might try and go for a remote off and on switch......... Well a few days is up and I'm finished with the weathering. I took some great shots out side to show all the depth of colours and tones I've used. 3 different gunmetals, 2 silvers, aluminuim, matt black, brass and the origanal base cot of the car spray wheel silver. I'm by no means a master, I'd say a young padwan on his way. ......... All feedback good or bad welcome

A bit of an update, sorry its not been sooner. I've become a Daddy, so all things are on slow mo at the min. Well I've just had my birthday as well and I got some great pressies, a Double H Cobra mask which come with some random dreads, some solid black foam extra floppy dreads, a few random dread beads, a few skulls, Usurper alien marking finger and a hockey mask from Frightstuff.

I've gotta remove the piss poor paint job on the mask and then save up for an airbrush. I've tried both sets of dreads on and decided on keeping the black floppy ones. I must admit as soon as I put the mask on I had to strike the arms out stretch legs a limbo pose. Whilst flopping/swishing the dreads around I threw a few beads on for size. I'm so glad the beads I made fitted perfectly.

I've still gotta attach the lenses and get around to fitting the wireless switch tri LEDs to the bio.

More to follow, pictures, weight tally update to come .......... Maybe my ike bubba will give me a spare min to get some progress made.

Well i had 40 mins free this eve after I put the bubba to bed after he's feed..........

I may have made a faux par here all, I couldn't resist and par glued all the rest of the dreads on just so I could put it on and have a little fun. I'm now thinking how hard is it to get em off and what damage is it gonna do?

I've also incorporated a hippie style pony tail at the back. What do you all think?
I've gotta make a shed load more P2 esk beads and decide on a few others, maybe I'll refine the bead madness back a bit. And I've gotta redo the hanging beads as there far to long.

I didn't s realise how heavy the friken head is !!!

Dreads off.... At last. I used a scaple and was quite a clinical procudure. And I bloody cut myself, friken ell did it bleed. If it bleed we can kill it. Anyhow.

Small update, I've painted my mask and converted into a half mask as my nose was being squashed and it it made breathing a nightmare. So I've cleaned it up and got rid of the smell of fags. Cut the face out, added some side facial horns that can only just about be seen with bio on. Added quills, stuck on the lower mandible so if anyone does look up into the bio it's looks like a full mask still. I've added upholstery foam inside so its sits on my head like a glove, bit of trial an error but worth it.

I've also decided less is more with the beads. I had a good peruse of old an new suit builds on here and I come to the conclusion I wanna go the less is more approach. There are some wicked looking heads on here if you search em out.

How do you guys attach the bio to your half masks. I was thinking Velcro?

I had a right touch at Christmas, my sisters law has been planning something and it turned out to be a mannequin. 6'2" Its the same dimensions as me round the chest and waist. What a bonus. So I've got the mask on there with the bio on, Usurpers wolf neck ring and a rough mockup (still TBC) trophy necklace. I've only got the torso in the dining room and will have to put the full mannequin in my man shed/garage. It's really gonna help me with the build as I'm quite a visual person and having things laid out or put onto a form/dummy is better than keep asking my wife to suit up. We've got a 5 month old baby and its not top of her list. So having (Bernard) I've named my mannequin around will be great.

I've also been tinkering around with the housing for the blades on the blade gauntlet. I've made some drawings over Crimbo and have made some cardstock mock ups. I think I'm there. Just gotta get me self in gear. And may be buy a heater for the garage. How do you guys heat your garages?

Small update, whilst fetteling with my blade gaunt and cutting some pvc board with a saw I slipped and cut halfway through my finger and nail. It fookin bled like ****. The nurse said as it not gaping just to stick it together. So just as I was gaining a bit of momentum with my build. I've got a proper buggered thumb. Maybe next tie I'll use a vice.

Late Crimbo pressie been delivered from Monstermaker, Cheers Buddy.

Anyone considering buying some do they're the Mutz Nutz.

I've gotta trim these babies up now, this will be a learning curve for me. I've never worked with latex before. Any pointers from anyone?

Not much happening on my suit, I've carded out the shape I'm gonna go for on the main upper body, the blade housing. Just need to get in resined up and shaped and fettled away. And I've got the upper part of my lower arm pieces on the top in white. Sintra heated and bent. Still to decide on the markings, just penciled on at the mo. I'm gonna go for a fat set of blades. A bit of all the blade types all rolled into one. But fat ones. I'm gonna shapem out of 8mm acrylic. I also got old some insane beads from Skunk. Top fella, cheers buddy.

Right I got myself so card stock 200gsm today. I need to replicate my cereal box top gaunt part with a bit more detail and get it resined. My first outing into the world of peperkura.

I also had a go at some electrics , blinking / flashing leds for the gaunt. Sufic to say I'm fookin useless. Bloody polarity and all that jazz. I'm gonna sit down with my father in law and he's gonna teach me what to do. He used to be a telephone engineer.

As you wish, got my self a Mean Gene P2 torso on the way.................... & some other goodies..............

Here's the skin, thanks WOLFPREDATOR. Top fella. A Mean Gene torso. Whoop whoop. All I've gotta do know is practice on the airbrush and get this baby painted up. But first i've gotta seem it and get hold of some Pros Aide and some fumed silica to make the filler blender stuff for the seams and some air holes. You know me it's gotta be perfect. I'm gonna follow Gens tutorial on you tube on the seams.

Does any one have any golden nugget with airbrushing? I'm a way off yet but I can always practice on my other projects.

Congrats on the ikle one Gene. They're the greatest thing on the planet.
