crashed AT-AT and snowspeeder

Hi all,

This is a diorama I took a pic of before moving into my tiny NYC apartment and moved a lot of the models I've made into storage.

The AT-AT and snowspeeder are both from SMT and are approximately 1:48 scale. I have a MR AT-AT (which is the same scale) so I wanted to show this one in a different light. I figured the inaccuracy of some of the details would be balanced by a dynamic pose. I replaced the side guns with scratch built guns from the 20mm flak gun kit. I also used the shields from the kit on the rear of the hull. The bottoms of the feet also have details added - the originals were just flat resin.

The snowspeeder was a separate kit and I always wanted to show that snowspeeder buzzing the AT-AT just before it exploded. Only problem with the snowspeeder pose is that I put the wrong speed brake up in the air. I hope it doesn't veer into the AT-AT! :lol

Hope you like it!

Scott

P.S. - if this doesn't belong in studio scale, please let me know and we can move it!

Image 6 was almost NSFW! Amazing work though, I wish I had half your talent!

Moved. I didn't know if the studio scale AT-AT and non-studio snowspeeder were to be in the SS forum. Was it because of the snowspeeder and/or diorama? Just trying to understand where the line is drawn so I post correctly next time...

The basic groundwork was built up with celuclay mixed with white glue. What I did over that is to put down some white house interior paint and while it was still wet sprinkled micro balloons over it. It's the same stuff they use for snow in ESB. micro balloons are a filler material.

I just happened to find a bag of them in college. I know they're like made of glass and easily inhaled. Not very healthy. The guys in ESB are shown wearing face masks sometimes when working in the snow environment.

I just did a google search and came up with this:

How did you do the snow? And what material did you use?
