Costume Creation/building for beginners

Hi there,

I am currently preparing for the upcoming Comic-con in Salt Lake. The costume which I would like to attempt is a Tim Drake Robin, but with a bit of a more armored look. My problem is that I currently have absolutely no idea where to begin or what materials to get for myself. Any and all assistance would be deeply appreciated, so please post back with pointers, ideas, or how-to's.

Thanks

If you are looking for something along the lines of the Arkham City Robin armor, then you might want to look at doing that with Foamies. There's undoubtedly a tutorial here on the RPF, or on the web and Youtube in general. Foamies are fairly inexpensive and easy to work with once you get into it. You just cut out the shapes, paint them, and glue them straight onto the cloth, spandex, and even boots. That's oversimplifying it somewhat, but that gives you the general idea. I've seen gorgeous costumes made with this stuff. The cape, or cloak if you are doing the hooded version, can be done with the type of linen material that is used for table cloths. If you can't find the right color, get white and dye it using Ritt Dye or something similar. It's rather daunting to figure out how to start a project if you don't know where to begin. Your best bet is to give us a more specific idea of your design, complete with sketches if you can. And no one here is going to judge your drawing ability, so don't worry about that.

Give us some details and we'll try and point you in the right direction.

The look I'm going for isn't really like the AC Robin. I'm thinking more along the lines of New 52 Red Robin, except adding my own custom bits of armor here and there. I'll try to draw a kinda diagram of what I'm thinking and then show you guys, see if you can help at all.
