Coolmodels at it again..recasting

I received a message back from coolmodels. Apparently for him anything is game. If you can buy it from someone, you can dump it in rubber. Maybe we should buy everything he has for sale, dump everything in rubber and sell it at half his prices :D

Maybe we should dump him in rubber. Of course we'd use a pressure tank to squeeze the air bubbles out.

Earlier this year, I bought a Jayne Cobb's 1911 Colt Pistol from Coolmodels. I compared it to the movie, and I knew I got took. There is no way to save it. The funny thing to me is that he used tape to cover numbers or something else, and the tape looked so real, I tried to remove it. I felt foolish.

Yea I think most folks end up getting taken by the guy once. I ended up at a con getting the Mal pistol, damaged Terminator CPU and what was supposed to be a cast of Anakins EPIII Saber off the actual mold when I was more naive. Needless too say all 3 were are junk. Did the best I could for Mal and the CPU chip the lightsaber though just needs tossed or something someday... Total D-Bag had fun making fun of him at Shoreleave though

Sorry, I'm a little new to this whole discussion but I was wondering about a few things. LeMarchand does not own Warner Brothers Pictures right? He also is likely not Robert Fletcher who did the costumes for last Starfighter, right?(thanks IMDB) So what is the argument here? Party A can make $$ from reacsts of an original prop but not party B from casts of a recast? Isn't this like going to the police and complaining that someone stole your Cocaine? The logic just escapes me.

I guess it depends on how far you take it .I mean technically everything cast from an original is a recast. I just got through talking to Lauren Yogt , who was the original sculptor for the Dancing Alien in spaceballs, and I was asking her about a studio scale of to sculpt my own. She was saying how she had seen the copies of her peice on ebay and other places and they where bad copies. She mentioned that most of them where holding the cane wrong even. She wasn't mad but said she hoped I paid more attention to detail. I had a picture of that alien in my photos just to use as basic reference. Now I think I will just research more screen caps.

"But the whole community of garage kits is illegal, so they self-govern to protect the sculptor. Just to show how different communities can have different rules and guidelines on the subject."

Whoa, what?!

Not everything is illegal! That is simply wrong!!

All original works and all items based in Public Domain are perfectly legal!
