Constantine: Lighter Project *UPDATE 04-09-2009 - Pics of brass parts are up*

Last batch of goldcolored zippos have been bought. Now searching for the screws.

Oh, and guys, don't thank me, i am just the one who is sourcing stuff and commissioning work. Mike is the true star of this project, not me.

cheers,

Marc

Well amazing work from you both, I'm a big fan of the lighter and this has certainly managed to remain the thread I look for when I log on in the mornings. :lol

Probably the least of your worries, but I Googled the Latin quote (pasted it from the thread into the search engine) and got nothing except: Did you mean: Fiat Iustitia et Pereat Mundus?
Searching for this gave a load of results, the English pages translating it as, "Let justice be done, though the world perish" and "Let justice reign even if all the rascals in the world should perish from it"
It's a close relative of the better-known Fiat iustitia ruat caelum: "Let justice be done though the heavens fall."

Not having seen the movie yet, I'm not sure if this would've been a better quote to use or not.

yep, that's a spelling error the propmakers made. It will be done with the spelling used in the movie to keep it as close to the original as possible.

Here is what I had made at the local shop. It's not exact to the movie version, and it's a regualar sized Zippo. I had the words put on the back instead of the side because the engraver could not put them on the side for some reason....anyway, it's for a friend of mine...here it is.

nice job on the zippo. the font looks really close, what font is that, might save Mike some searching if he hasn't found it already.

cheers,

Marc

Hey, ya look good :)

Marker Felt Thin, eh? Looks good. I was going to look for one of those architectural lettering looking fonts. Thanks for sharing.

Been following this thread and understand I have NO talent
like you all but, The insides of zippos pull out right? well why not
make an outer case of resin and use the pics everone has sent as a stencil.
Then get a couple of long movies out and CARVE out the design.
The hinge can be added later.
then you have a perfect resin case, ready for the innards.

Then make a mold, however you do that, again no talent.
and wa-la.

By the way, I would like the first pull.
Thoughts??

As most costuming gems are found....it was at a local thrift store as thrift stores are the best place to find London Fog Jackets for about $6-$8. This one was $5 :p

Huge interest as well. Would love to carry this as a "working" prop when I hit the bars... :thumbsup :thumbsup :thumbsup
